Yea we rescue foster fail. 4 seniors who were rejected by owners. 1 deaf 15 yrs old 1 uses a doggie wheelchair 14 1 Bichon 15 we have has since a pup. 1 Pit Lab 13 hip dysplasia who was tossed out if truck withher puppies 10 years ago, pups all died 1 6 year old St Bernard Husky who could pass for a large wolf. 2 Lab pit mix 18 month old we adopted when no one wanted them. It's what we do. Expensive but it's the most rewarding thing I have done in my life.
You're a mensch, I love dogs too but only have one at the moment, a senior dog who doesn't get around like she used too. Put her on arthritic chews.

Semester collars for 8 years not a tick or flea ever and we have 7 dogs and 11 in the past 8 years
That's what I use, you have 7 dogs now?
Anyone see what happened in Dubai yesterday?

Nice! Only a trace here from that one, but we had 3.2" three weeks later.
On a completely different subject, our dog brought in a deer tick Sunday evening, earliest I can recall.
What do you use for tick and flea prevention on your dog?

2010 was the earliest here. Unfortunately, 3 straight mid-20s mornings May 11-13 toasted the ash and oak leaves, along with every blossom on our apple trees. Last year was early, too, and many NNE orchards got hammered by the May 18 freeze.
Hammered my fruit trees too, got a couple apples and that was it.

I hit 70, back to 69, saw a lot of golfers in my travails today, beautiful golf day.

Not great quality (just using my phone), but you can briefly see the shadow bands at 35 seconds on the snow (wasn't looking for them). Please excuse the lack of composure...
Can't believe there's that much ice on the pond.

nothing here yet but went to Agawam today and saw a bunch blooming
Nothing in my yard either but I saw a ton in CT and remarked to my wife how bright they were.

Just had our trash raided by a black bear and he took a big ol’ shit in the driveway.
Guess they are awake now. Shoveling trash with a snow shovel is always fun in the rain, ha.
Pics?

Building an observatory?
I did an appraisal for a guy one time, he had a decent size shed in his yard, when I looked at it I remarked that his roof looked unusual. He said he was an astronomer, and he pressed a button and the roof slid open, pretty cool set up.

I don’t believe the two species can breed together. Gray and Black can breed but neither can breed with Red if I’m not mistaken.
They can't but some grey squirrels have a reddish color to the tails.

I guess it depends on what else you want to do. Spain is supposedly incredibly beautiful. But Egypt looks amazing. I’ve never been to either
Years ago we had a trip to Egypt planned before 9/11, after that we nixed it. Would like to see it one day though.

As compelling as that is, I am putting the snowblower away for the season over the weekend
If it happens the sun will melt it in no time. I remember back in the 70s we had a few inches in May, was gone in no time.

This is the third and final update to the season snowfall maps for Winter 2023-2024, as of April 10th 2024. If there's any additional accums ill update it.
I've been going back and creating new seasonal snowfall maps for the past 25 years for SNE so i changed the ranges from 10 to 20" ranges to feet so it's now 6" to 12" to 24" and this will be the same for all the other maps.
If anyone has any corrections or additional reports i will gladly add them, just let me know. Everything on here is pulled from the SNE snow page by Kevin, COOP, CoCoRahs, climo sites and NOAA NOHRSC.
Thanks for the map, I'm surprised I got over 20 inches, I guess those 1-2 inchers add up over a full season.

Yeah it always shocks me how much people take these events for granted. I would die for the opportunity to see totality from my backyard. I wasn't able to go north for this one and missed it. Total solar eclipses are probably one of the greatest celestial events you can witness. I'm too far south to see Aurora Borealis, and the next totality won't be until May 1, 2079. I took a trip to Alaska which wasn't cheap and planned on seeing the northern lights but that fell through the floor also. Just can't catch a break.
My wife caught the northern lights in Iceland, she went for 4 days a couple years ago. I'd be happy to visit Alaska even if I missed the lights.

When I was in the pool in Sarasota, I met a guy from Ohio who lives in the path of totality, he said he wanted to get out of there before all the people came and took over his town with a traffic jams. I asked if he ever witnessed one, he said no. I said I hear it's a pretty spectacular event and you could watch it from your own yard, he said his give a shit meter didn't register. I was a bit dumbfounded; I would have at least stayed home to see it at least once to see what the excitement was all about.

Is anybody making plans for August 2026 in Iceland?
I want to take my kid so I started looking into it last night. It can still be done reasonably but I’m sure prices are going to soar.
That one just touches northern Iceland, looks like Spain is a better place to see it.
-
I'm sorry I missed it but I had a free vacation in Florida, love hearing the stories, if I was home I would have driven up to see it and put up with the traffic, sounds like it was well worth it.

Not the least bit exciting in the Boston area. Hope those further north got the full experience.
I'm in Florida, even at 58% it's a dud.

I dropped a degree and its light snow now, grounds covered with a mixture of sleet snow.
