Off to a bad start. While setting up genny I walked out of garage back door and locked myself out. I always check to make sure it's unlocked before I walk out even if other doors are unlocked out of habit. After looking for the spare outdoor key which conveniently was not where it's supposed to be, a few expletives, I grabbed a brick and busted the window. Awesome, now I can start shopping for a whole new door. Probably won't need the genny now,lol20240403_191336.jpg20240403_184440.jpg

I did that once but ended up getting it open with a credit card, depends on the kind of lock you have though.

Sounds like he wasn't much the thinking type. Water has been doing the same old thing to gutters longer than he or you or I have been alive. Sucks there are those guys out there giving a bad name to contractors.

It's hard to say from just a picture though. I have trouble seeing water coming down the siding just from that little piece of aluminum missing. Id look at the wall inside for any nail pops on the sheetrock, water stains anywhere. Look up at the subfloor in that area of the basement. Could be a can of worms. Hopefully not but don't wait around for it to fix itself.

I wasn't happy to say the least, but it looks like that may a similar problem above, maybe just needs a repair.

Your roof doesn't look that old so there ought to be two rows of ice and water up from the eave and one running down the entire length of that valley. There could be something there with an incorrect method of shingling the layers or someone skimping on materials. One thing you could check before ripping up your entire valley haha is how the drip edge to gutter detail was done. Most of the time there will be a space vertically between the bottom of the drip edge and where the top of the gutter starts. Some guys will just slap the gutter up with no regard but the proper way is to take a strip of aluminum and slip it under the drip edge then over the top of the back of the gutter if ya follow. That way any water that drips off the drip edge will have only one path-into the gutter. Good luck. Roof Is the most important part of your house.

I paid a guy to do my gutters and told him to put the strip of aluminum under the drip edge, first day after he did it and it poured, and I noticed he didn't put the strip under the drip edge. He called for his money, and I told him once you put the piece of aluminum in like I asked I'll pay. He said he didn't think it needed it. Looks similar here so you may be right.

FWD is starting to mention the increased chance of cloudiness over climo.

I hope for everyone's sake it's a clear day but since I'm going to miss it I won't feel as bad not being there if it's cloudy fighting the traffic.

Yea. I was going to wait until after the mid week cyclone originally just to be safe.

The difference is amazing in two weeks, we usually go down by the casino to one the courses there first week of April, one of the is Cedar Ridge, we get there early for their brunch spread and golf 18, course is greened up and it's a good deal for brunch and golf.

Actually to be fair and honest, I noticed looking out the kitchen window when waiting on the tea kettle this morning that the lawn suddenly has green patches that were not there last week.  I don't qualify it as "growing" just yet, but the uniform beige is now more a patchwork of vaguely greener and dormancy.

I don't think that is early in and of itself.   My recollection is that grass will tinge green at lesser environmental excuse - few mild days in February passing out the solar nadir into Ray's favorite - warm bum car seat season - and that patchwork look will flash over fields.  That seems more like where we are at here in the Nashoba Valley.  Which is interesting ...because what part of an icing event just last week flicked the turn green trigger ?

I have more green grass than brown, part of my yard gets a lot of sun.
