And it's not as if we're that far removed from an above average snowfall winter. Last winter was horrible obviously, but NYC got 38.6 inches in the winter of 2020-21. Well above average. One horrendous winter last year isn't enough to make me believe that the situation has gotten so bad that we're never gonna see an above average snowfall winter again. .
Past 6 have had 2 way above average, 1 slightly below, 1 below and 2 clunkers. Averaged together for me they are like 1.5" below average.

I have to disagree due to the potency of this system.
Not very common this time of year
Just want some rain, don't really care about severe.

Hopefully Friday's storm chance will deliver. Euro has a lot of the area getting hit by heavy downpours. Then a nice weekend with lower humidity.
I have a late afternoon flight ugh

Are the storms in western PA the ones getting us later or will something else develop?
Terrible timing today...and any chance they are more isolated and could miss areas?
Hope things hold up for your party and the balloons launch. I gave up on the party's 2 years ago. I always had bad luck.

Surprised. It seemed as if the threat was over, but I got lucky here after midnight. A small downpour popped up in Hunterdon County and made it to my area, and then another cell popped up right behind it. Very heavy rain and a couple close lightning strikes. A half inch of rain. I thought I was gonna have to water the vegetable garden later today, but now I won't have to. Nice surprise late tonight.
Yeah, it was raining so hard it woke me up, it was brief, but surprising. I watered the garden after I thought we missed out at about 825 last night. I got a bit less than you at .22"

Several years ago when the ice around Antarctica were at all times highs, and people said global warning is fake, the scholars said it all melts out anyway so the ice doesn't matter. Now that it's low, all of a sudden it's a problem. The message they send out doesn't mesh.

Ask @Poker2015, it usually breaks up around here. This is insane right now. Torrential rain, huge lightning bolts, and some of the loudest thunder I've heard in years.
