With the globe ~2 F warmer than 77-78, do you think there can still be a winter as cold as just 2F warmer than 77-78? For example:
Ten coldest Savannah winters since 1875-6:
1977-8: 45.8 (~6BN)
1976-7: 46.0
1957-8: 46.2
1969-70: 46.4
1963-4: 46.6
1962-3: 47.0
1968-9: 47.3
2009-10: 47.8
1980-1: 48.0
2010-1: 48.1
So, if an upcoming Savannah winter were to be 2F warmer than 1977-8, it would be 47.8. That would still be tied for 8th coldest, a top 10 winter.
Aside: Note that 7 of the 8 coldest were during El Niño.
2 in the past 13 years up there. Some would have said that was impossible.

There's basically 3 camps. Cmc/icon/nam vs gfs/ukie and the euro is kind of alone showing a scraper
Not that it is a real model, but the Navy is pretty wet as well considering it always seems to be progressive with storms.

If this rain keeps up and we continue to get below average temps, we’re in for amazing fall foliage, the likes of which hasn’t been seen in a long time. Get your cameras ready!
Last year around this area was some of the best colors I've seen.

Bust bust bust, ahh bullshit. That was intense. The cross street at the end of my block looks like the local creeks after a hurricane, filled with debris and large branches that washed down the hill.
It's not just about your backyards.
When a huge area the size of NJ has a flood watch and they get .10-.25, that is a bust. Your backyard didn't, congrats.

Hey, I know where that is! That's Landing Lane bridge, right? Just a few miles from me. Was just thinking how awesome it would be to watch today's storm roll in from the southeast way up in one of those buildings. Anyway, strong winds here too (sporadic downed branches), and 5+ minutes of hail, though most was rather small (smaller than dime from what I could tell). Around 0.70" in the bucket. Fun storm.
I was in Piscataway for that cell. It was the most hail I've ever seen. It lasted about 10 minutes. I would say it was about moth ball sized with some larger

A spotter in Kutztown reported quarter and dime-size hail around the campus.
I was last up there about 10 years ago (doesn't seem like it) to go to the Folk Festival and Crystal Cave that I hadn't been to in over 40 years, so I have a visualization of the area.
And I just hit 95 with dp 76. Will not set foot outside if I can help it.
That is funny. My niece was probably working the folk festival at the time. Yeah, where I am in NJ it is 95/75

Is Newark the only station that is + from when you do your temp readings?

Lived in North Brunswick at the time. Irene was kind of a shitshow. Rode the storm out at my sister’s house in northern Toms River with my parents, and I remember it taking hours to get home back to NB with my girlfriend (now wife).
Yeah, I was in Piscataway at the time. Lots of flooding all over and my basement took on water

The grand total, no matter which round brings what, seems to be 1-3" anyway like you've been saying.
