  1. I found an article where it said New York City received about 10" of snow in Central Park on April 07, 1982, nearby suburbs up to 20". These photos were from April 07, 1982 in my backyard in Union Township. Judging by the top of the garbage can, we had at least 12", probably more. Easter was on April 11, 1982.
  2. These short term precipitation models are sometimes as unreliable as the long term models...
  3. Do you mean Easter proper? I do remember having at least a foot of snow on one or two Easters (Union County NJ). I even have a picture of at least one of them with Easter baskets in the snow. (Of course some Easter's do occur earlier).
  4. I could think of a few areas that might "deserve it". I think we would need a hydrologist to chime in on this. NYC proper has their water source in reservoirs about 125 north of the City. I would suspect that these "reservoirs" are fed from a massive drainage system, perhaps reaching as far as the Great Lakes and the Adirondacks? I have seen some reservoir levels in Jersey get mighty low, but many of these are "connected", meaning some are drawn down to feed other ones in times of drought. I do hate when we do reach actual drought conditions, that only people who hire landscapers are allowed to water their lawn.
  5. Sometimes these early warm temperature outbreaks don't feel as oppressive this time of year. Ground and attics are still relatively cool, so indoors may not be so bad?
  6. I (almost) always have my undershorts on...
  7. So is this pending Alaskan eruption being overblown? (pun intended)
  8. Did it look anything like this?
  9. Some of that was sleet...
  10. Droughts are never much of a concern in our general area as far as available potable water. Rain has always returned. The real danger is brush and forest fires.
  11. I thought the general Gulf Stream/Labrador current was slowing down?
  12. The temperature of the water off of Delaware affects the formation of a Nor'Easter? I could see the ocean temperature perhaps affecting the intensity...
  13. Shouldn't this map be valid for April 1st?
  14. No real arctic air in eastern Canada. At 11 AM, it's 7 degrees on the western shore of Hudson Bbbbay, and some negative teens in the NW Territories...
  15. I go by averages, not extremes. Number of 90 days is good for relative measuring/records, but averages tell a much more complete story.
  16. I only adhere to average temperatures since records have been kept.
  17. In some ways, they already are...
  18. I contend that it has been windier the past 10 years or so...
  19. I wonder if Volcanic Winter can shed some light on whether the Alaskan Volcano potential eruptions on MSN is just "overblown" hooey?
  20. For what it's worth, north central Canada is harboring -27 degrees air this afternoon.
