  1. Why do they never forecast BN in the northeast. I know it’s a bad bet most years but is this the only reason?
  2. Well yes obviously. Many places in the metro have already had a freeze.
  3. It is very likely nyc will not see a freeze until December. In recent years the first <= 32 F night in central park has gotten later and later. some years it doesnt happen until mid December.
  4. Pulling 80 in late October is challenging period, even if theres a stout ridge right over us. Mid 70s we should achieve easily though.
  5. The dry sunny days this upcoming week with the cooler overnight lows relative to earlier this fall should do wonders for the fall colors for the burbs and even the city.
  6. 36 this morning. coldest night so far by a long shot.
  7. Bizarre. I expected to wake up to an inch or two on mansfield and jay peak, whatwith the NW flow.
  8. The season of disgusting dews is finally over. Hopefully no more AC till april
  9. That's what I thought until last winter. It rained to 10,000 ft repeatedly in Utah and Colorado. Just absurd how fast the planet is warming. Very scary.
  10. Again regions to our west will absolutely torch and set records for next week. Absolutely insane to still see highs in the 80s in the midwest when it'll nearly be November. The rockies and west coast however look cold and snowy. Preview of the winter.
  11. Well below normal is the most likely outcome. One huge storm that lines up with blocking and delivers near normal seasonal snow for people south of boston is the second most likely outcome. The ski resorts will likely have a ratter winter with tons of rain outs and bare runs off the sides of the trails. We were kinda due for that, with how good the last two winters were over the interior.
  12. Tomorrow has got to be the last muggy day of the season right? I suspect dew point records to be smashed tomorrow.
  13. Yes new england and nj/ny has been basically the only part of the country to not be a complete torch since march. most of that is due to certain days with suppressed highs due to all the storms. The overnight lows have been torching.
  14. Wow. It's amazing how month after month we ge these massive +10F areas encompassing huge swaths of the conus. And little to no cool anomalies at all! In the past if the west torched then the east was cool and vice versa, but for the past 7 months its just been conus wide torch.
  15. Could be an interesting winter for elevated areas. If it's slightly colder than 2015/2016, especially in December, it could be a snow bonanza, with a bunch of storms falling as marginal heavy wet snow. If it's as much of a torch as 15/16 or worse, then it'll be a shut out.
  16. Not happening in a super nino. Last winter was ideal for pack. Even the cities had a pack from january to end of feb.
  17. When you say elevated interior are you thinking catskills and southern greens are included or do you really think it'll be a shutout for everyone south of Stowe and less than 2k ft asl. lol
  18. Coast is due for a big march. Every single march since 2020 has been a complete ratter. Total shutout on any sort of wintery activity.
  19. This will go down as warmest october for CONUS and its not even really close right @bluewave?
  20. Uber niños have a better chance of being torch in the upper midwest I feel. But MN is so cold that a torch looks like highs in the 20s and 30s and lows in the 10s rather than the usual sub zero lows and highs in the teens. Still cold.
  21. bullish on warmth until at least late month
  22. It does look more muted now than I initially thought. More like a couple days in the mid to upper 70s. For reference central park's mean absolute maximum for October is around 79. So unseasonably warm but it happens every year. There could be a return to heat mid month however.
  23. It was bad for ski country. Terrible actually.
