  1. A State of Emergency was declared in Ulster earlier today. Not good, half the county had lost power at one point.
  2. Good evening Sir! My grandson is 2 and with the way kids grow up nowadays he’ll probably be posting on here in about three years or so, I’m confident you’ll be around.
  3. I was thinking the same thing. I have plenty of treated salt but it doesn’t work as well on a stone driveway as it does on paved, it just melts through into the ground, which makes the mud that much more ‘fun’. Thus I always have sand on hand too. #1 son just called, they did his interview virtually due to the storm and he got the job he wanted with American. He’s done really well for himself so a proud dad here just wanted to share.
  4. I’m just hoping the sun tomorrow melts enough ice so I can get into the cars and then I’ll assess the driveway situation which is a disaster of just ice although now it’s sleeting with some snow mixed in to top it off.
  5. Wish I thought of that earlier, both cars totally frozen shut.
  6. I noticed yesterday on even my short ride home the amount of potholes that had opened up.
  7. Ulster County took this one on the chin, State of Emergency declared.
  8. Congratulations Walt, hope all are well and healthy!
  9. Glad to hear you have some pellets over there too, let’s cool that column! This has the makings of a “Who’s on First” Abbott and Costello routine if you bring her in when you order more.
  10. Just think of the poor bastard that keeps getting into a cold car and can’t figure out why! Enjoy your time up there ya bastard, it sounds perfect! What’s the over/under on Ubu’s consumed by you today?
  11. There’s a void of mPING reports in the Mid-Hudson this morning unfortunately. If you don’t already use mPING I highly recommend you get the app and report your conditions it’s super easy and very useful.
  12. That wasn’t a drill, likely a drunk kid trying to be funny
  13. Rain leading to freezing rain produces a different type of ice than freezing rain from the start, it’s pretty interesting to look at up close.
  14. Glad to here you’ve flipped for now, really hoping for the same down here
  15. I hope you guys in Dutchess are holding up well…
  16. There’s close to an hour difference from the time stamp on that map and your post. The mesonets are a trusted source but you can see they are more or less equally spread out to cover the region.
  17. Been sitting at 32 for 5 hours now. Little fluctuations of course between 32.4 to 31.9 but no steady drop below freezing yet here, no complaints from me.
  18. 32/31 here near Campbell Hall, still plain rain but right on the cusp of freezing up.
