  1. 700 looks easily reachable at the moment.
  2. Yea, some classic northern New England scenes. Hopefully, but doubtful, it’ll look similar to that for you.
  3. On this date in 1981 areas in this thread were in the midst of a decent snowstorm. I think I've talked about it before in here but that's not going to stop me from talking about it again. We lived in Fishkill at the time. I have some vivid memories of this storm, I was nine years of age and recall working on Christmas decorations/ornaments with my Cub Scout pack. It was pretty exciting to have gifts for my parents that I created, all while a raging snowstorm was occurring during the holiday season. The storm started on the 14th, I found this from a NY Times article in the 12/15/81 paper: "Yesterday afternoon's snow turned into heavy rain last night in New York City, but continued to fall heavily across Rockland County, portions of eastern New York, the Catskills and Connecticut." Looking at various COOP reports, which can be a bit sketchy but still tell a story, it appears the storm lasted until late on the 16th or early on the 17th depending on location. Some local NY snow totals from those observations: Gardiner: 18" (seems a bit high but who knows) Glenham: 10.5" Liberty: 9" Walden: 11" Westchester Airport: 6.5" Yorktown: 11" The records show a couple of refreshers, one on 18th/19th and another on the 23rd, each were a trace up to two inches, location dependent. Temps started warming up on Christmas Eve so the pack began melting but held on enough to make it an official White Christmas. Seeing this Miller commercial in regular rotation on tv was more than fitting during that December of yore.
  4. Good morning. I’ve been formulating a reminiscent post this morning for later today, need to confirm a few things in the archives but I digress. Low of 26 here, also the current temp.
  5. 2.01” for the event, just over 61.5” for the year. Didn’t see any flakes here.
  6. 1.91" so far puts me over 60" for the year...yay...
  7. And neither flavor has any impact on what actually happens so I don't know why some get so bent out of shape. IMO, the Jets haven't played a home game since they left Shea Stadium.
  8. So you actually had a "pack", nice. I was just being a smart ass, if you can imagine that
  9. I was actually in the Gaylord Texan on Sunday morning, not as part of the CFP Committee clearly but to see ‘ICE featuring The Grinch’ which was pretty incredible, just google it but I digress. While walking through the place we came across two women decked out in FSU gear with signs and everything. I asked them if they were related to @BxEngine to which I got blank stares and “Who?” My wife then reminded me that we had tickets for the ICE thing and we didn’t have time to find out if some ladies were related to that weenie. GO IRISH! Who have essentially no receivers for the bowl game…
  10. I thought he did too one year but Kevin beat him for Weenie of the Decade.
  11. That's the problem with that silly term, it's arbitrary and the goal posts seem to change seasonally for many.
  12. I worked at a grocery store at the time as well, absolutely insane, record sales for the time. The cops had to get called around 2am Saturday morning as two guys get into a fistfight over what was the last of an item, bread I believe. I drove home early Saturday afternoon in raging blizzard conditions, I couldn’t tell what color the traffic lights were until already into the intersection, fortunately there were few out at that time. I had my mothers Chevy Corsica (front wheel drive) that day which was great in the snow, going right through our unplowed street, snow coming up onto and across the hood (the Corsica had a low profile up front). My rear wheel drive Regal would’ve never made it as I used to fish-tale on rainy days in that car LOL.
  13. I found out about an hour ago that apparently Texas bbq has a similar effect…
  14. We’re down in Grapevine,TX for the weekend visiting our son and his fiancé. Grapevine happens to be the Christmas Capital of Texas, while walking down Main Street last night it felt like a cross between an episode of The Great Christmas Light Fight and a Lifetime movie but I digress. It was 61/59, so a bit humid and while walking into a bar I heard a guy tell his wife, who happened to be sitting outside, that she should get her jacket or she might freeze…um wait, wut? Even the kids are saying it feels like winter is here now, it’s currently 54/43, told them that they are getting soft.
  15. A home heating oil truck rolled for sure near Monticello, with a spill involved.
  16. Had some flurries about an hour ago, looks like some more heading it this area.
  17. Hoping this holds up as it continues to moves southeast
  18. .87 last night, gets me to 2.13 for the month, this month will break the streak of five straight months of above normal precipitation (October was only .01 above though).
  19. Yeah, low of 21 here, not exactly a November of yore despite the yarn being spun by some but the month has been below the all time highest averages we've seen so we have that going for us...
  20. https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/123773.html Above did a number on the herds around here for a couple years but numbers are bouncing back IMBY. Inadvertently got between this guy (not a high quality photo)and six or so does in the yard a couple weeks ago. He wasn’t happy so I decided it was best to head inside as I was clearly disturbing his date night plans…
  21. .3” here, still not above freezing but close at 31.7°
