  1. if it verifies it's going to be crazy. At least some dead wood is down from prior events, but ever green trees will topple on saturated soil-it's been very wet going back to Thanksgiving.
  2. still full coverage here almost a week later. I expect today and tonight to get rid of alot of it....
  3. yeah most of it will go tomorrow into xmas eve day. Temps stay above freezing tomorrow night around 40-45 then well into the 50's Thursday day.
  4. only the coast will go with a high wind watch across Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and coastal SE CT where the llj will be the strongest and highest confidence of warning-level gusts will be. Advisory-criteria winds could occur for at least the remaining coastal areas and nearby inland areas. Strongest sustained winds and gusts would be from late evening through around daybreak Friday.
  5. Evergreen trees would be the main concern-some of them were completely uprooted here in the 11/15/20 event
  6. I usually go up to Mohawk in NW CT. At least from what I can see on the cams, they are blowing snow when they can, but makes sense that some places are worried about a shutdown. Luckily here-most things remain open....
  7. I'll take a 4-5 SD -AO or -NAO anytime.....
  8. most places should be able to start making snow from late day Xmas day and the weekend though.
  9. I've had more power outages here this year than in the 17 yrs prior since we moved into this house. Lost it for 4 days for Isaisis but got lucky with Sandy, Irene, March 2010 etc where it was only out for a few hrs.
  10. Windwise, there's been enough events the last 4 months to bring down alot of dead wood-tropical storm Isais, the November windstorm etc. so this may not be as bad as it would ordinarily be.
  11. I think it's long gone in most places on this subforum by 6am. Temps will be in the upper 50's with heavy rain
  12. yep alot of it will go today and tomorrow with temps in the low 40's and sun today at least
  13. yeah that's the problem with most really snowy areas-no one wants to live there
  14. move to Watertown NY. Sometimes they have 15-20 days a month with at least flakes in the air. Crazy
  15. the ratios there were high too-so 40 inches of snow but with a lower water content
  16. amazing they always go torch-yes it usually ends up above normal in areas, but the whole country?
  17. I agree-we have to hope the blocking can stick around. I'm sure that SE ridge will flex from time to time.
