As we get into Jan you don't need anything crazy cold wise...obviously Dec and Mar you do...ton of white rain last March had that pattern been a month earlier we would have scored some decent snows

.9 at the park. Before that you had to go back to Feb 2022 to find a snowfall more than 1" there. PHL is even worse.

All true-we got late blocking last year but it came too late with little to no cold air...hopefully the cold air source is decent this go around

We did have a big cold outbreak in 15-16-I think NYC got close to zero in the Feb outbreak?

No one is canceling winter-it was simply stated that it looks warm through xmas. That's not canceling winter.

Going to need to get Canada cooled off-that's alot of PAC air that's flooded Canada. The area in the east is colder but I'm not sure that's cold enough to snow given mid Dec averages?

I'd even count Boxing day. We've had some mid December storms, 2014 and 2020 but they were washed away by the annual xmas torch each year

Yep it's a variation of the same theme every winter. Although this year he isn't saying "You're canceling winter on ____________" (fill in preferred date)

I've seen more snowflakes this month and last month than all of January of last winter

Who predicted a 2015 redux? I haven't seen that anywhere. I saw warm/snowless but not a +10 month

Not a torch but you need real arctic air to get snow in December...normals are still 40+

SE winds tend to do more damage since prevailing winds are out of the west-so trees tend to bend that way. On the plus side-all the leaves are off so that will help limit downed limbs
