Another seasonally festive nice morning! 28 and light snow. Maybe a 1/4 to 1/3rd of an inch but it certainly helps to make it feel like a winter of old. Heading back up to Bretton Woods today for the evening and a bitterly cold day of snowboarding tomorrow

Nice professional presentation with this. However, with it being on Youtube, I noticed a decided lack of hype, sensationalism and errors that usually accompany weather related videos.

Drove up to Bretton Woods on Wednesday to kick off our season with riding on Thursday. The drive up was an adventure. 38 and cloudy at the house but temps dropped quickly by the Tilton/Franklin area. Snow picked up in earnest around Plymouth and by the time we hit Franconia Notch the roads were untouched by plows. Cleared up a bit on route 3 and 302 with temps jumping back up to 30. The hotel was nice and festive with all the decorations. Definitely busier than I was expecting for a Wednesday night. There were three full bus loads of people there for something. Thursday on the slopes was great. Excellent conditions, no ice to speak of, plenty of 8”-10” powder on the side of the trails. In and out of snow, wind and sun all day. A really good start to the season!

@dendrite Not sure if you follow this at all but I've seen your posts regarding trees and figured it may be of interest: https://www.unh.edu/unhtoday/2025/12/james-hall-ginkgo-tree-sees-latest-leaf-drop-record

Does this "dong slap" have quantifiable parameters to it? Perhaps based on depth, inches, pressure or intensity? All the above?

Thread it!

Sounds like @Damage In Tolland may have stopped over with his seriously abused weed whacker.
-
Nice job with this one.

A nice, festive 6”-7” here. All light and fluffy with no signs of ice. Interesting that we stayed ice/rain free here while it sounds like Nashua got into it a bit. Usually the exact opposite over the past few years. I don’t trust the precision of this gauge but here it is for reference.

Been holding a steady 28 here toward the coast all day long. Bounced from 28.2 - 28.9 at the peak but sitting solid at 28.0 even again now. Hoping it stays that way!

Dendrite mentioned an intensely multi-colored band running like a train over that Damage in Tolland fellow the other day and he hasn't been the same since so I'm a bit leery

For those of us less versed in the field, do I want the purple circles over me for more snow here in coastal NH?

26.4 and light snow

That's one small lot for JAN(uary), one giant start for the season.

Congrats and Happy Thanksgiving!

This reads as though there could be a dramatic, 300-esque movie historical significance to it but I fear I may be misinterpreting this particular “Roman helmet”…

I've been able to osmotically pick up on what most terms used on this board mean over time but this one here, I'm still struggling to figure it out. Can anyone help a brother out?

Pretty sure we've been there a few times for trees including last year in the snow. Dirt road, long driveway - beautiful property up there and nice trees. -

I'm looking for recommendations for in-helmet sound/communication - anyone have anything they use and like? My son has simply been using Airpods as he listens to music while riding. I looked into the Cardo Packtalk units and Alec Nunchucks and liked the idea of on-mountain communication while actively riding. Reviews are kind of all over the place though with respect to group communication. Any recommendations for a quality/reliable setup you have experience with is appreciated. TIA

"Plum Smuggler" Thank you for expanding my vocabulary today - this one is definitely going into the rotation. It sounds like Fruit of the Loom's answer to the Hamburgler! -
