  1. Our daycare closed at 3pm yesterday during the height of the winds and when we lost power lol. So that just shows you that even if we think this was forecasted well...you don’t know where organizations are getting their forecasts from and even then, you still have to have upper management of various divisions in synch with it. You can get a good forecast but still drop the ball internally.
  2. That’s what I’m thinking...reactive instead of proactive. Easy to push cost increases with a keyboard stroke though.
  3. I didn’t see any trucks this morning between the Bury’s and WeHa. They were probably out but with the amount of outages...I was expecting to see crews everywhere. I’m curious now WTH is going on internally there.
  4. My bill was $335 this past month which is double than what a typical July is. I filed a compliant. But I’m more concerned about restoring power and doesn’t look like it’s happening today. Not much info on their site besides they are ‘evaluating’.
  5. Expecting a great PGA. Course is setting up to be a tough but fair test. Hit fairways and greens...and you’ll be fine. Easier said then done when the fairways are pinched in with heavy rough. Conditions in the San Fran marine air won’t help either. Long accurate drivers and good long iron players should do well. I’m pumped for the 4 days.
  6. Moderna will supposedly charged around $35 per dose of their vaccine. Cha ching...
  7. I’m in that world to. Theoretically, it makes sense.
  8. Most would sign off on that. The problem is the higher prices wouldn’t trickle down to increasing low paid jobs...it’s straight to the corps bottom line greasing the pockets of shareholders. Maybe they’d throw a quarter down to the minions like Uncle Scrooge.
  9. Especially when you have teenagers goofing off or making bets about who gets it first. Our kids aren’t raised in communism where they are soldiers, and all fall in line. Freedom to act anyway is great but certainly has its downfalls when that act is a detriment to others and the greater good. There is no perfect solution...someone will take issue with whatever is presented. My 4yr old son was supposed to go full time OT at his elementary school, to prep him for kindergarten next year, but we may decide to keep him at daycare instead. Only 10 kids in his daycare with 1 or 2 of the same teachers compared to the exposure of a bigger elementary school. Still undecided but why take the risk when we don’t have to. To those who have school age kids, though, not an easy decision. It’s tough all the way around.
  10. Yup. Covid has simply exposed it. However, the ruling class and majority of our politicians don’t care. What is good for them and only them....everyone else, shut up and produce.
  11. I think Eversource bought them out? They were that awful with restoring service after Oct 11.
  12. I understand, as a weenie, experiencing the power of mother nature...I do...but as a homeowner with a family, I really don’t want the aftermath hassle. Even if I had my standby genny installed already, it’s still not that fun having tress collapse all around me and spending days chainsawing.
  13. I had one, it crapped out on me. I’m actually in the process of investing in a Generac standby.
  14. Still puzzled how anyone enjoys this but ok. Forecasts were spot on. With so many communities in the region placed into and surrounded by forrests, It doesn’t take much to cause damage though. If we ever have a slow moving cat1/2 cane, it would practically delete our livelyhoods. Have fun with that. More cleanup today. Riveting stuff.
  15. What a shitty storm. Still no power. Sent the wife and kids to grandma’s in WeHa last night. Spent 4 hours cleaning yesterday. Several trees down on the property so I’ll have to spend money to get them removed. Tossing food into coolers but some will get thrown out. Have to find a public spot to work remotely today during covid. 2020 can’t get any worse. FTS.
  16. A tree is down, even if it is sideways. Isn’t that enough for you to stroke your little birdie for 5 seconds?
  17. Thankfully at the edge of the property.
  18. I couldn’t report on Eversource either. Their system must be overwhelmed.
  19. The May 18 nado was unreal but as a synoptic wind event, yes...strongest by far.
  20. Never about damage. Never. Only snow. I hate this stuff, it’s stupid.
  21. Big tree came down in the front. We bunkered in the basement. No power.
  22. I’m pacing around the house keeping my eye out for bursts and have the kids ready to stuff then down the basement if needed.
  23. It’s cranking here. Leaves down everywhere and a small twig snapped off the oak in the front.
