  1. Yea. I’ve been to Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium (and other Euro)...great countries to live and raise a family.
  2. FedEx Cup playoffs plus majors in the fall...can’t beat it, even without fans.
  3. Yea, it showered a tick here. But don’t worry drought downers...we’ll get plenty of rain in the winter.
  4. If only our Constitution did the same and actually lived up to its promise of ‘all men are created equal’: “Iceland achieved top-10 rankings in all categories and was number one in safety,” says Fergusson, who points out that Iceland is also a world leader in human rights. “No matter the origins of a child or who they turn out to be, Iceland’s constitution ensures they will be treated unequivocally as an equal.”
  5. We just beat out Mexico for the worst OECD country to raise a family. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2020/07/29/best-worst-countries-raise-family/amp/ As if things couldn’t get worse. According to a new study from the travel website Asher & Lyric, the United States is the second worst place in the world to raise a family. The country came in at a shockingly low 34th place out of 35 countries, only beating out crime-ridden Mexico. Topping the list of best places to raise a family were countries like Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland (which was recently named the happiest country in the world for the third year in a row).
  6. Late summer warmth is fine. It typically doesn’t have the same chokehold as peak season... and nights are usually coolish. Let’s not waste Earth’s limited supply of cold outside of winter anyway.
  7. I honestly have watched paint dry and it’s more exciting...seriously.
  8. When the results come back, the doc sees multiple fractured vertebrates from an angry weenie throwing his AC units into storage...
  9. The WAR is pretty stubborn so it will still make its presence felt this month but the return of the coc is near.
  10. Luckily I had a full ride to Seton Hall for soccer so I never had the $120k student debt that some of my peers are still paying off. That’s just nuts. If you have to pay for school you should chose a profession that you see yourself in. Doctor, lawyer, scientist, etc. Otherwise, going to college just because it is the next thing to do while ‘figuring it out’ may not be the best path. It’s kinda what I did until I stumbled upon logistics and supply chain my senior year and it turned out to be my career that I am passionate about...but I didn’t have to pay heeps to do so, thankfully. But everyone has a different goal in mind, not everyone is built with career aspirations at 18, and this is Amerka...do whatever you want.
  11. What was your rate beforehand and how many years did you have left?
  12. Nice to see the coc returning. It’s time to start fading the summer doldrums away.
  13. Yup, feels pike Florida...the armpit of America.
  14. I’ve had enough. Let’s cool it down asap. Love that late summer warmth but not as choked.
  15. She feeds me more than my wife does...I may just ‘switch’ women.
  16. Yea. Same here. House is pre wired for a genny. I’ve been staring at the generac standby’s for over a year now ever since my portable gas genny crapped out on me but with so many other important projects on the table, was hard to justify spending the money for it. Then this happens....but I only lost what I had in the fridge and lived at my mother in laws for 7 days. It’s even harder now to justify the purchase when all things considered, I lost maybe $100 worth of food while my MIL enjoyed having her grandkids for a week. So I may just get another portable for like $500-$1000 for the essentials and call it complete.
  17. Finally...power was restored around 10am. My house is pre-wired for a generator already so of course my plan to get a standby generac before the winter was obviously too late but that’s next on the to-do/to-buy list.
  18. Still without power. At least they finally replaced the pole that came down, today...6 days later.
  19. Yea. I don’t get it. They are underpaid to begin with.
  20. Yea. Loved how they setup the course too. Challenging but nothing stupid like a US Open. Nobody lost it, Colin just went after it and won it. Chipped it in on 14 and then the drive on 16 was an all timer. If there were fans...the place would have erupted. There was a point where like 10 players were -10 and -9...it was anyone’s trophy to win. But Colin took it. Especially when he hadn’t tried to drive 16 over the first 3 rounds... It was a calculated aggressive call. Hats off.
  21. Yea. Sometimes we think our weenie world equals the general public and that’s rarely the case. We thought the forecasts were great with enough lead time but apparently the public either didin’t get the memo or shrugged it off to media hype. It’s why I always prefer to be cautious and be ready then do a TBlizz but wake up to disaster and say, “I didn’t think it would be this bad”. I pulled my kids out of daycare at 12 and the teachers thought I was drunk. Even my wife did. But then daycare sent out an alert that they were closing at 3...during the height of storm. I lost power at 315. Parents were pissed because they drove in dangerous conditions as the winds whipped and trees came down. Puzzled why people late until the last minute and react, instead of being proactive. I guess when we weenies know the power of mother nature, we don’t mess around.
