  1. What a difference a day makes! It clouded over (thankfully) and that has suppressed the temps. It's almost 15 degrees cooler right now (@76) than yesterday around this time and almost 20 degrees cooler than the 2 days previous to that! Dewpoint is 60 to boot and it's a big relief before the next bout.
  2. I did finally bottom out at 71 this morning and the morning has generally been overcast until the past half hour or so when the sun made its appearance. Temp is currently 75 with dp 61. And I did see that Mt. Holly posted the Philly RER for record high min! I also saw who sucked up all our rain. AC with a record-smashing event!
  3. THIS. Grab a bushel of Jersey corn, tomatoes, and peaches as well as some crabs or clams and back across the bridge. Soon as we got in the house, the corn husking began, and the big pot of water was already on the stove to boil. As an obs, the humidity has thankfully dropped and it's currently 72 with dp 64.
  4. With the sun out, the temp has recovered to 82 and now the air is really juiced with the dp now 78!
  5. Warning up after the storm passed here (don't see anything back west of that) -
  6. Sun has popped out. Picked up 0.22" from that. Lots of convection still around and a few thunders. Temp down to 77 with dp 75.
  7. Finally got drops wetting the sidewalk but nothing measurable. It did help "drop" the temp to 84 and raise the dp to 77!
  8. Have a slightly darker green return over me and am still waiting for my 10 drops. Currently overcast, 86, and dropless, with dp 76.
  9. I know there are supposedly the mix of the 13 & 17 year broods but like you note, I'm missing the annual giganto, non-red-eyed ones. The kind that you don't want to be in the way when they are flying somewhere fast. I remember getting smacked in the head by one while sitting at the top of the slide to our swing set back when I was a kid!
  10. SPC up with the Thunderstorm Watches - Currently overcast with breaks of sun still and 88 with dp 76.
  11. I am in NW Philly and have had exactly 0.5" of rain for the entire month of July IMBY, and at this point, I expect whatever line drops down here with the front, will evaporate enough to form dry slots just as they approach my part of the city. I welcome anything I can get but expect I'll be back out with the hose again in a few days (deep watered last on Friday).
  12. Now have tapped 90+ #13 for July (#19 since May) just after 10 am this morning. The overrunning precip to the north and west has been throwing clouds down this way and that has been impacting the temps this morning, as the sun has been in and out. Currently overcast with breaks of sun and 88 with dp 76.
  13. @5:59 am, 5 minutes after sunrise, it was 80 IMBY! I know this will end up being a RER for PHL for highest min (I think the previous record was 78). Dp is 75.
  14. Some RERs up for today (so far). PHL & RDG broke, and ABE & TTN tied their highs - Currently partly sunny and 89 here with dp 73.
  15. Briefly tapped 98 IMBY just before 2:30 pm but that might be it for me. Oddly (or thankfully), the dp stayed reasonable today although it has started creeping up now. It's currently a hazy 96 with dp 70. ETA for my 90s and above count - today was #12 for July and #18 since May (revised up one to included a missed June one). This time last year, I had 19, 90+s by this time since May 2021. However July 2021 had a total of 10 days at 90+ for the month and June had 9 for the month (May had 2), where this year June had far fewer with 3.
  16. And I briefly reached 95 just before 11:30 am. But so far, the dews have been mixed out and it's currently 94 with dp 64 (so 38% humidity).
  17. I hit 91 at 10:13 and briefly tapped 92 a couple minutes later! Currently sunny with lots of cirrus and 91 with dp 68.
  18. Irony alert this morning - so far I suppose the ground is so dry that there is efficient radiational cooling going on because my low temp this morning so far was 73, lower than the min the past 5 days. Currently 74 about 10 minutes before sunrise, with dp 68.
  19. LOL couldn't miss the loud song sparrows that were singing before the robins in the mornings. I did see a lanternfly nymph (an "older" stage, red specked one like below) - But so far haven't seen any adults (thankfully because they were a nightmare in 2019 and 2020, with a huge drop-off of them last year). As RedSky hinted, it could be they were drying up while emerging. I have only had 0.5" of rain in my neighborhood in July.
  20. I didn't even see any Brood X here last year either - and the last time I believe that brood was out was around a year after one of my sisters had moved into her Montco house. She had a couple stragglers crawling up her shed near the creek at the bottom of her backyard, and that was the first time I had ever seen a "red-eyed" cicada.
  21. Gave it a shot about 10 minutes after sunset - no crickets, no cicadas, no katydids. Just bizarre! It's currently 85 with dp that has now crept up to 70.
  22. 97 was my high today and it was the hottest temp recorded on my main PWS (which I bought back in late July 2020 to replace my old 2015 one that is on its last legs). It's currently 90 with the sun peeping through some high clouds as we head towards sunset in about 50 minutes, and have a dp of 68.
  23. I'm gonna have to make it point to pop out there in the evening to check for those. I have been cat sitting the past couple weeks - gave one sister's kitty back last Tuesday and just got my other sister's cat yesterday (and neither can be let out here or manage to dart out an open door or I'll never see them again... lol). So I have limited the outside watering and nature checks to the mornings after they are fed and napping.
