  1. Ended up with 83 as a high yesterday and a low of 62 this morning. Currently mostly sunny and 78 with dp 61, so definitely not bad out...
  2. My high for today appears to have been 74 and currently have 0.04" in the bucket (from 2 rounds of light rain). It's currently 71 and overcast with occasional light rain and drizzle, and dp 69.
  3. My low ended up being 61 this morning and the rain that was supposed to evaporate before getting here, is here (although it hasn't tipped the bucket yet). Currently 70 with light rain and dp 66.
  4. Most of the precipitation was to the north and west of downtown (I am like 20 miles from the airport as the crow flies and was probably around the southern fringe of the heavy rain). The southern parts of the city had less, which for people like those in Eastwick (in SW Philly), which continually gets flooded with this type of event, was spared this time (usually getting swamped by the Darby Creek and Cobbs Creek)! They got walloped last year by Isaias. The neighborhood is adjacent to the airport. Hilly areas south of me - like East Falls and Manyunk, got hit with flooding from the Schuylkill as they are situated alongside the river or at the bottom of the hills coming out of Roxborough and got the brunt of the river and runoff of water down the hills. As a side note, when I was just looking for something else, I did stumble on this compiled from Mt. Holly data regarding TORWs over the past 25 years or so (so throwing in this thread just for FYI) -
  5. I wish I were "well-versed" in those programs! There is so much in them, so am still trying to get a handle on them. As an obs, the high deck of cirrus did eventually clear out yesterday and I managed to get up to 77 as a high and the weather was about as perfect as you could get - not humid but comfortable and warm. There was some low-hanging stratus earlier this morning but that seems to have lifted, and it's currently clear and 64 (will see if that is my low or it will drop down any more before sunrise), with dp 62.
  6. Ended up with a high of 73 yesterday (low of 56). It's currently mostly cloudy with some breaks in the high cloud deck, but including a vivid red sky in the east and 58, with dp 56.
  7. That was a truly bizarre storm because it was pretty much left for dead and then regenerated itself as it exited into the Atlantic and then did a left turn right back onto land. But being where it was out in the Atlantic it pushed water into the coast and pumped moisture inland, swamping everything - essentially like a nor'easter that inevitably causes the rivers to flood. Once that happened, it was game over for so many communities, especially since PA is full of rivers and creeks. Thankfully there has been quite a lot of work done over the years to bolster the various watersheds to better handle the water.
  8. Just heard on KYW again - and just checked. Mt. Holly revised the Oxford, Chester County tornado to EF2 - Plus more detail on the EF3 in Mullica Hill -
  9. I just heard on KYW that the Mullica Hill EF3 hit the largest dairy farm in New Jersey that also happens to be located there. Found this article about it - https://www.nj.com/gloucester-county/2021/09/nj-weather-3-cows-dead-silos-toppled-as-tornado-devastates-njs-largest-dairy-farm.html
  10. It did hit Florida from the GOM side with its first landfall - and pummeled it with tornadoes, but was definitely much weaker than Ida in terms of winds (bare Cat 1 at initial landfall vs Ida's Cat 4 at landfall). There's a recent article a few months ago looking back at Agnes - https://www.pottsmerc.com/news/local/hurricane-agnes-first-storm-of-1972-packed-a-punch/article_77186288-d531-11eb-bc1c-b300b24bd5f9.html I used to have a co-worker who was born and raised and lived up in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area and after Agnes hit there, he said his parents' home was completely destroyed and he and they ended up moving down here to Philly. His parents eventually retired and became snowbirds, getting into a camper and heading down to Florida every October and returning every April (my co-worker would share the driving of them down there and fly back home ). I just found someone's Super 8 video of the aftermath of Agnes in the Wilkes-Barre area -
  11. Well my namesake Hurricane Agnes did some major flooding damage and has been referenced a lot in comparison to Ida - It also came up through the GOM but then exited into the Atlantic, regenerated itself, and pivoted around and slammed right into NY. It was a big rainmaker and a bare Cat 1 at initial landfall and never regained hurricane strength. It ended up reportedly with 128 fatalities throughout much of its land track (I think PA having the bulk of them).
  12. I live about 5 - 6 miles from there. I was watching where that was going (at the time it looked like it was heading towards Willow Grove on the radar) and was under the TOR for it.
  13. I haven't been to that exact area of the video but have been near there at Temple's Ambler campus that I understand was impacted. Reports indicated almost every building was damaged from that tornado. https://temple-news.com/temples-ambler-campus-damaged-by-tornado/
  14. Ha! I had looked at the the runs of the 18z GFS and I think the 12z Euro yesterday and saw Larry show up in this hemisphere on the last couple panels out to around 144 hrs + at the time. I'm watching that guy in case it doesn't become a fish storm after crashing into (or looping around) Bermuda. I actually had a low of 56 this morning and it's currently mostly sunny, with some recent puffy cumulus appearing, and 71 with dp 56.
  15. Yeah I'm trying to capture their assessments - they just posted another in Bucks (still getting strength assessment) - They did post a 5:45 pm PNS with what they have confirmed as tornadoes and the one in Oxford was confirmed as one but is still being evaluated like the Mullica Hill & Upper Makefield ones (to get the scale) -
  16. Thank you and I know i'm bad.... When I saw pics of it posted blowing past the tolls, I couldn't help it. I don't know what all the damage was for that one but fortunately it was "only" a EF1. I did see a post in the thread to a video on facebook as it crossed the river and then apparently the gulp of water seemed to have done it in and it looked like it dissipated not long after (for the most part).
  17. It is a PITA when it comes to anything to do with "water" and "flooding" because they'll say you need "flood insurance" (which is basically only offered by the government via whoever they use). It comes down to how the damage is described and worded. Really really sorry to hear that you got walloped multiple times where you live. Wishing you luck for whatever you decide to do.
