  1. The NC Piedmont is going to have to settle for an early March dusting, aren’t we?
  2. This has been showing up on the GFS for about the last eight runs and the HRRR has it, too, albeit at half the totals. I’d take some flakes and a dusting.
  3. Whoops. Yes, I meant an actual casual wave with your driving hand while on more rural two-lane roads; not that other one finger wave you see in the cities. LOL!
  4. You’ll fit right in. The only thing I ask is that you don’t go to Canes games at PNC Arena and cheer for the Bruins. I’m a season ticket member, but I sometimes skip the Boston games. Talk about insufferable. Haha! If you avoid sticking your bare hands in dark holes, you’ll never come across a Brown Recluse or Black Widow. When I was young, my father was bitten by Brown Recluse while moving an old wood pile, but it was minor. Depending on where you live around here, you’ll see more Whitetail Deer in a day than venomous spiders in a decade.
  5. Oh, boy. Another New Englander moving South. I thought we hit our quota already. j/k Welcome, MegaMike! As a native Southron, I’ve never lost a minute’s sleep over snakes, insects, and spiders. This isn’t Australia. If mosquitoes do bother you in the summer, use picaridin spray or lotion. My wife uses it some, but they don’t bite me often. When I see a spider in the house, I either ignore it or pick it up and take it outside. Remember that grilling is not the same as barbecuing. Barbecuing is low, slow, and indirect and is not done with a Weber in the backyard. When you pass people on country roads, it is customary to casually flick your hand holding the top of steering wheel as a polite greeting. When you’re fixing to go over yonder, leave in plenty of time. I-40 can be a bear sometimes. A dehumidifier (usually in an older, musty bathroom) is only necessary in the summer if your A/C isn’t running often enough. If you have good HVAC ventilation in newer construction, it’s usually not needed. I don’t bother with one.
  6. I had my propane tank topped off today. Sorry, folks. That means no Christmas snow east of the Apps.
  7. Schadenfreude is a strong emotion.
  8. I found a two-for-one deal on Mayfield Snow Cream, so I grabbed that up. Might be the closest wintry anything I see all season.
  9. I have a little over 300 gallons in my 500-gallon propane tank for my generator. I’m debating whether to call the supplier to have it topped off.
  10. It’s been slow around here. Weather is still a discussed subject I assume. Maybe they’re doing it elsewhere. I just don’t feel like signing up for another forum. Speaking of slow, who’s ready for the usual southeast pattern of 25 and dry then 45 and wet?
  11. I won’t name names, but some television meteorologists are so insufferably annoying to watch.
  12. How’s everyone’s electric bill this month? Mine is horrific.
  13. During all that rain earlier this year, I mentioned that we shouldn’t complain because we won’t be able to buy a drop by the middle of July. My most recent rain totals IMBY for July: July 17: 0.05” July 10: 0.70” July 8: 0.50” That’s it. Just 1.25” total for the month. I’ve cut down my sprinkler output. I use sprinklers to supplement nature rain. My well shouldn’t have to carry the load. We need some tropical action.
  14. I read that DH was progressing well and would likely be ready by then.
  15. The abrupt end to the NHL season has sort of left a “what if” feeling for me. I was growing confident that the Canes could at least earn a wildcard and then who knows what else. Ugh. I’m not optimistic that the 2019-2020 season will be resumed. And based on articles I’ve been reading, there are questions about if and how fans would be admitted into arenas and stadiums for the upcoming fall hockey and football seasons. I won’t take the simple pleasures for granted anymore.
  16. I’m so bored lately that I’m finding myself pretty excited about the prospects of an unusually rainy week. I don’t mind 4”-5” of rain over several days. I just don’t want it all at once.
  17. Yes, there are several providing some good information. And there are a few wasting electrons.
  18. I assume you don’t visit the Southeastern forum during one of our (increasingly rare) winter storm threads.
  19. The April 19th Severe Event thread is full of interlopers I’ve never seen before. It’s the weather equivalent to rubbernecking. I appreciate the insight from several of them. Others, not so much.
  20. There’s something sort of sickening when people are almost cheering for catastrophic weather in others’ backyards just for the rubbernecking novelty of it. WTF is wrong with people? This planet has had enough crap to deal with lately. Don’t be bummed out if your tornadocalypse doesn’t pan out like you had hoped.
  21. The covid-19 thread in the Off Topic forum disappeared. Did that thread get too rowdy while I was away? With all this leisure time, I’ve been reading and watching more news and interviews. (Kill me.) Several things I’ve noticed especially among people in their 20s and 30s: ”Super” is being used excessively as an adverb. People are now “super excited” or something is now considered “super easy”. Please stop this madness. “New normal.” Ugh. New normal is yesterday’s “seeking closure”. Inability to annunciate some T sounds in words like important or mountains. I’m hearing a lot of “em-poor-uhn” or “mao-uhns”.
  22. Congratulations! I found some ground beef and chicken this morning. Limit of two per customer.
  23. It seems like the Southeastern forum has been the least active regional forum lately. Our weather must really be boring. Gee, I wish we had a current event to discuss. Nothing comes to mind.
  24. Canes chances have improved over the past week especially considering that some of the guys are waking up and a few other eastern teams are slumping. I bet some team will miss the WC2 slot on a tiebreaker. It’s going to be close.
