Mount Joy Snowman

I used to wake up at 5:30 everyday and was on the first train heading to Harrisburg out of Mount Joy, neck tie and everything. Now? I roll out of bed at 7:15 and log onto work in my knickers. Depressing, really ha.

First order of business is creating separate classes for schools with boundaries and schools without boundaries. Too much consolidation of talent going on at private schools that get to classify themselves as small.

I would gladly take the reigns but first working on becoming President of the PIAA to fix that monstrosity haha.

Embarrassed to say I didn't think of this either and I even umpired one year haha. It's a really great point. More generally, if they push back the school schedule as a result of this it would have a negative impact on all after-school curriculars.

Top of the morning to you! Unfortunately, no I have not reached out to CTP about that issue. I don't have any contacts there and honestly just haven't had the wherewithal to do it this time. I've got a boy about to turn two and a nine month pregnant wife about to burst at home, so I've been worn the F out ha. Maybe next time. Hey @canderson what did I tell ya about that Senate bill!? I see no reason why it won't pass the House. Although I must admit, hearing the other folks talk does have me feeling a bit nostalgic about the early darkness around the holidays. But bottom line is, more times than not, I'd rather have that extra hour in the evening. I think the vast majority of people agree on not changing the clocks anymore, just a matter of whether you prefer Daylight or Standard. I'm certainly sympathetic to the arguments on both sides and my main concern would be what this does to schooling, as I really don't want to see any changes to the school schedules. End of the day, I think it's more good than bad. People will adjust, as we always do. High of 67 here yesterday, low of 35 last night. A perfect 10 is upon us gentlemen, enjoy it. I'll be firing up the grill for some steaks, asparagus, and potatoes. Got to keep that pregnant belly full -- not mine of course, my wife's, although they tell me men can get pregnant now so who knows. Chow!

Topped out at 56 yesterday and bottomed out at 30 last night. Looking forward to the upcoming stretch of weather.

Low of 23 here last night. Getting the grill fired up this week, which tells you everything about the weather we're in for tehe. So, I can't remember who, but someone in here had mentioned this weekend about MDT reporting periods of moderate and heavy snow yet adding very little to their totals. Sure enough, I just went through their five minute observations and during that final blast of snow in the afternoon which led to whiteout conditions and accidents and all that, they were reporting a solid half hour period with moderate to heavy snow and visibilities ~1/4 mile but only added a T of liquid and from what I can tell nothing to their snowfall. I mean, c'mon what are we doing here. MDT lists a total daily snowfall of 3.0", which I guess seems reasonable but there's no way that last band was properly accounted for. A Cocorahs observer in Middletown totaled 4.2" of snow, which ironically enough would have broken the previous Harrisburg daily snowfall record of 4.1" from 1959. Hmmmmmmm.

I vote for permanent Daylight time, would much rather have the extra light in the evening for practical purposes. Getting up in the morning is hard no matter what the daylight situation is haha.

There is a bipartisan bill out there right now to do just that, keep us on daylight time forever. Not holding my breath though, as we’ve seen this rodeo before.

My low here was 15, while MDT only hit 20. JST hit 8. Highest snow total I could find for PA was 11.8” just outside the PA Grand Canyon, which was a pretty big outlier.

Already down to 18 here. Goodness.

Ha thanks, although my wife would argue that I’m sure. I was waiting at the bar for the food and it was packed and raucous. All I could think was some of these people are in for a rude awakening when they stumble out of here after sunset.

I can confirm that, between the drifting and refreeze, it is indeed getting treacherous out there. Had to run and get my pregnant wife a very specific dinner haha, and yeah it’s getting iffy real quick. This in an area that wasn’t even hit particularly hard. Stay safe everyone.

Between not being around this morning to do periodic measurements and the wind wreaking havoc on things this afternoon, I’ve never had a harder time getting a final tally. With that said, after many samples around the property I’m going with an even 3.0”. I have no idea if this is accurate ha, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Oh lord, there's always one somewhere. These winds are downright violent. Have buddies reporting power out at multiple businesses around Lancaster, including Target.

Temp plummeting now, down to 24, and extreme winds making it damn near impossible to get any type of measurement.

Haha no worries I was just poking fun. Yeah until this final band moving through we just never had "those" types of conditions here. Again, all roads were perfectly fine both this morning and this afternoon all the way from Lancaster to Hershey and back. Was expecting much more impact this morning, kind of like I'm seeing now.

Well right after I typed that I can't see 100 yards here complete whiteout conditions. Groovy.
