Starting to think it’s finally time I read the Northeast Snowstorms book this week.

CMC has an extremely heavy thump of snow before mixing to sleet along DC in an axis SW to NE as if climbs the coast

It was solidly too amped for my liking at 12z so it makes sense it stays on the northern edge of guidance.

Battle of the century going on with the CMC between a near 1050 high and gulf moisture.

Technically it’s 4 distinct pieces of energy that roll into one block but I feel like a quad phaser is clickbait

I don’t want to alarm anyone but the CMC is going for a triple phase out west.

FWIW if you alter the NS some you’re really close to an even better solution. Either way this run pretty much negates my main fear of the SW getting completely left behind and us striking out

GFS has a better open SW than the ICON but has a huge NS dive south into the flow. Might help it turn into a long form event like the 18z EURO did

I’m stuck on mobile pivitolweather but I think it’ll be more akin to the Icon solution than a full cave to Euro. Just need to see now how the NS interacts once the SW ejects

I'm just focused on getting that SW to come east. Though I suppose there's still a lot of time even if we get everything on board at 0z tonight. Do you know when it will be sampled better?

I think we see at least a partial cave back towards its 12z run with ejecting at least some of the SW energy. Hopefully more though.

Now we just need the GFS to cave and I will feel so much better about saying with near certainty the East coast will get a major snowstorm somewhere.

Icon has a still sorta out there evolution where the NS fails to really pull the storm east unlike all other guidance (minus GFS) but wonder if that leaves a round two on the table for the next NS wave to pull into

Maybe, though I think it'll leave a bit too much behind to rival something like the 18z Euro or UKMET.
