  1. Aren’t those likely the same storm just showing up at different times in the ins members?
  2. The 28th-29th period could go our way. Just yesterday it was just a hint.
  3. I love the snow to sleet to freezing rain events here. We rarely go above freezing for those out here and it makes a glacier.
  4. You’re not on an island. I mentioned this yesterday in my own way. When you have troughs oriented from Michigan to Myrtle Beach you’re not getting snow no matter how cold it is. Those troughs have to bottom out along the Mississippi. They have to be broad enough to anchor the cold along the foothills of the Rockies or the cold gets booted by any system. I’m not saying I know anything but this is what I have learned from experience. I want to see that look when I check the models.
  5. That’s the one. Nothing major of course but maybe could serve as an appetizer to a bigger one that you mentioned.
  6. It’s that trailing wave, more prominent on the CMC that looks interesting as far as an early chance is concerned
  7. From about the 28th on look possible. Wouldn’t surprise me to see one of these models start showing something for the end of next week.
  8. I like how the gfs is trying to bring cool to cold air into the plains and foothills of the Rockies. Without that any cold air that drops in here just gets booted out as the next system comes along. We need that broad trough centered on the Mississippi to get into consistent cold and chances. Again, I’m not a big snow chaser. More frequent snow and cold is my favorite.
  9. What it really said is “I’ll take a shot at forecasting the weather beyond Saturday but I’m likely not even close”
  10. Read once many years ago on the CPC site that models struggle mightily during times of pattern change. Don’t know if that still applies. We would seem to be entering a good period near the end of the month. I can remember many winters that basically didn’t start until then. I remember 76-77 was about 75 degrees the first weekend in January in swva and then we went into a remarkable deep freeze and snow literally every third day.
  11. Teams go through ups and downs. They just played the two best teams in the league, and played a third in a place that is arguably one of the toughest places to win in the NFL. The Eagles are solid. They will be around when it counts. They just need to stick to their run first mentality. They aren’t the fall behind kind of team. This from someone who hates the Eagles. They’re good. Wait and see.
  12. Looking at the gfs the period right around New Years is at least interesting
  13. Nighttime often brings near zero visibility.
