Memorial weekend looks stormy to start, and mostly clearing out by Monday with lingering weather in the southeastern half of the sub. Possible lingering trough over the north bringing showers.

For Mother's Day this year it's looking like we have potential stormy conditions to watch for, for a couple days.

3-5" of perfect snowman snow around my area this morning with 6-10" up the shore. Pretty mellow week on tap with avg temps.

We'll add as much as we can for your trip, but no guarantees for April weather. Some surprises yet for us here in April is my feeling looking at my modelling method, although a 2013 type April would be a bit much to ask. (50" along the terrain). That being said, tonight will add some, especially up Lutsen way.

Looks like another 6" possible Tues night-Wed. Coming through at night this time of year is better for acum snow. Temps like to rise into the 30's during the day now leading to more mixing, at least here at the shore. Lack of ice is a big factor too. MSP should get a quick hit Thurs. Looks like snow to rain.

Do you happen to be on a hill top? We have that situation here too. Hill tops tend to get a little more. When I used to plow. I had an account on a hill top 5 miles north of town , locals dubbed it "5 mile hill" as it is exactly 5 miles from town up St Hwy 2. That homestead would get pummeled in respect to my other accounts around the area. Localized orographic lift.

This just came to mind. When you leave that much snow on the roof, and you get rain on top of that, and it refreezes, the weight must increase a bit. Might consider easing the load during the season, at least on some of your out buildings. Your house might fair much better, tho, as it's built a little stronger. Speaking of which, the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth had a roof collapse a few days back. With all the snow, and rain mixed in this year, got a little heavy.

Looks like next week, lots of nickel n diming with snow. Looking forward to record snow season for Duluth, and maybe TH 7NW. Then Spring can come full bore. I'm ready On secondary note, this year, I've been giving obs reports during events to help NWS Duluth know what's going on here TH. We are such a rural area, that there isn't much to go on. My reports on one storm helped them to change a WWA to WSW for my area, because the storm edged a little farther north than anticipated. And yesterday, we had bands of snow showers that got pretty intense at times, so visibility in my email reports (in city blocks) helped them to understand the situation on the ground around here, even flake size is helpful. Or when the radar shows what looks to be light/mod precip, and it's just virga, which happens a lot here because of the dry air over the lake. Just basic obs go a long way.

Oh, I should have added, in my last obs report to them I teased them a little by saying "Tough cast. Snow porn to almost celibate LOL". I also complimented them on doing a decent job this season, too. I'm sure as a forecaster, when you get one that wrong, it's a big letdown, and the public trust is affected. NWS Duluth is a tougher zone to forecast for, anyway, because of Lake Superior + terrain, and the interplay with weather systems on the basin. Living in the area all my life, the lake has, and always will be a wild card that models will struggle with at times.

1-2" of snow near the lake with 3-6" away around here. N WI had 3-6" near the lake with 6-10" away. Forecast flop. Biggest of the season for NWS Duluth. Generally they are pretty decent, but they got caught on this one. Oh, well, live n learn. This happened more when I was younger. Models not as good as today, and they aren't the greatest even now at times, but much better than the past tho. A little experience, and instinct are helpful. Even I thought they were going too liberal, but it really flopped worse than I thought it might.

So-so cast on this one. Trough moving through here in the north as system leaves the area. Dual fronts sweeping the region bringing chilly weather.

BIG FLOP! this was a terrible forecast. I think I got 1", I think, because its blowing around.. Oh well, onward.

Well, it looks like it'll be snow right off the bat. Very wet, but snowing nonetheless. Figured it be more mixed to start, so 6-8" looking good I think.

New forecast is much as I expected would be the case. Had some light rain showers yesterday, and some drizzly weather this morning. Radar showing precip moving in real soon. Let the slop fest begin.

Interesting. Sunday, the winds picked up quite a bit for while. The airport recorded winds up to 45 mph. So, either human error, or winds messing things up a bit.

NWS Duluth's take on snow totals today. South Shore will do well, but I'm thinking the North Shore will only just make min guidance here, my gut anyway. 6-8" would be just fine with me. Starting as rain, and slowly transitioning to snow is a big factor, combined with increasing N winds bringing loads of dry air. Guess we shall see. Event starts tonight.

Today, looking like a good 6-8" for me, but the entire south shore of Lake Superior will see 1-2' with this one. The start will be rain/snow mix, then quickly turn to colder temps, and snow, leaving a little ice underneath. After getting 12-17" around TH area, another 6" would be a cherry on top. Others would say just more pain in the ass, and lets get to Spring already. People are ready for winter to end. Personally, I partly agree, but really want to see the snow season record fall at Duluth, and TH 7NW.
