3rd driest May on record here TH, and 4th driest in Duluth. Yet everything is still really green from the abundant snowmelt. Have only seen scattered stms the past couple days across the area, so very hit n miss on that front. Timing off here as rain chances don't start to enter the region until Monday, and then throughout the week, with high pressure pushing down from the north by weeks end.

From here on out, it gets like this every weekend. And either starting this year, or next, 61 through town is getting a makeover, so that should slow things down a bit. Out state Senator was able to secure the needed funding to cover the cost increase for the project. With supply issues, and inflation, the project got a bit more expensive.

Dews shouldn't be issue tho. Air pretty dry. Near critical fire wx on tap here with the S winds. A little unusual with that flow to have low dews, but the closer the front gets, that will change.

Beautiful holiday weekend on tap here. 70's with clear blue skies. NO SMOKE! North bound traffic along the shore was pretty intense yesterday, and again today. Sunday into Monday will be just as bad heading south. Reminds me of NJ traffic along the Garden State Parkway decades ago. Same weekend phenomena. Ev1 heads south on Friday, and north on Sunday. When I would go visit my aunt n uncle in Paramus on the weekend from the base, I would have clear driving as I was heading the opposite of the heavy traffic.

One good thing about being near the lake is I don't have to worry about frost now. Water keeps temps just warm enough, unlike inland areas. Hell, I've seen frost in July, and August away from lake in the past, including the recent past. Couldn't imagine what it was like in the "Year without a Summer" in 1816. Probably snowed half the time up here.

Nice day in the 70's here by the lake. Milky white skies from the smoke. Front moving through this evening will bring some rain, and some smoke will mix down. Winds switch to the NE quickly after passage bringing temps into the 50's again for tomorrow.

It's on page 1

That little bugger hiding under the cliff rock. NOOO! I don't want to go! LOL! Wx the same today. 50's near the lake to 80's further inland. Typical. Still a smoky sky, too.
-
Cooler today in the mid 50's with a stiff E wind off the lake. Still have thick smoke aloft, tho, and that looks to be spread across the N sub, and over the Plains region. Thinning out some as it goes over NE WI/L MI.
-
70's here too. Wonderful day for this time of year. 11 pm, and still have my window open with calm winds. Very nice!
-
Friendship Day in early Aug looks rather warm with a threat of shwrs/stms. Something possible in the S/SE sections of the sub to watch, might be tropical in nature.
-
Smoky skies returning here today. Thick stuff on it's way over the next few days across the plains, and w sub region.
-
I watched them for a few minutes last night when they came out around 10:30-11 pm. Very nice show. Not as intense as I've seen in the past, but cool nonetheless.
-
0.12" of rain yesterday brings me up to 0.34" for the month. Very dry, and looking the same for the next few days. That's ok tho, kinda welcome with such a robust snow melt this year. Gives the ground a chance to deal with all the moisture.
-
Enjoy. Very nice wx for tomorrow. Fair n 70's with Sunday being a little cool, and breezy. Cloudy, chilly today, tho.
-
For Parent's Day July 23 looks like a front moving through with warmer temps, and a threat of shwrs/stms.
-
A little hazy from the smoke today, but not bad. Looks like it has spread out across the sub, and thinned a bit, but out west across the border country, and W CA, still pretty thick.

Yep, known this for some time. We have made things worse. Speaking of AUS, the natives there have tried to get the gov there to let them manage the forests, and do regular control burns so they don't have these massive fires, but the gov won't let them. I remember seeing some articles on this back in 2019/2020. Thanks for the info.

Occam's razor. It all natural. The conditions happened to be just right for fires, and some lightning strikes set them off. There's always potential for arson, but they are in a remote area, so less likely intentional. And the smoke will have some effect on weather conditions, but nothing as bad as a cooling effect on the climate as a volcano can produce. It'll wash out of the atmosphere pretty quickly.

Mid 50's here imby, but a little cooler along the lakeshore with a NE wind. Sky Harbor arpt on Park Point is running mid 40's. Chilly day, but dandelions are popping out today, so Spring is springing, albeit a little slow, but that's northern wx for ya.

Smoke has cleared out here, but looks bad south of me around MSP.
-
Smoky haze from CA wildfires moving through today, and sounds like tomorrow, too. Mixed in with clouds, this evening has a brown look to the sky.

I don't know if we have any Mom's that post here, but if we do "Happy Mother's Day" to you.

And here the grass is just starting to get long enough to be cut for the first time (few more days), and trees are starting to bud out.
