Another problem up here in the north is the fact that we started off with dewpoints of about zero in some cases and it's going to have a hard time saturating the air.
That's what I've got too, which is freezing up here, and I'm down to 27.7
Oddly enough, a lot of Sussex County, NJ, and parts of Morris County are having power issues tonight that don't seem to be related to this event.
Sparta, NJ @ exactly 800 feet elevation:
Temp 28.2, RH 96% with lots of icy patches. Some spots are just wet, presumably where they've salted, but if you hit a spot where they haven't - watch out!
Let's see how fast the warm air wins out.
TWC still very bullish on this ice storm in northern jersey and surrounding areas. Yet their future cast shows us 40+ degrees by morning.
Maybe the morning commute is OK?
The temperature here in Sparta has dropped in the last hour from 33 to 30 with a light mist. Our deck is starting to glaze over again after having previously melted. Don't know if it means anything, but that's what we are seeing here.
Taken this morning in High Point State Park, about an hour and a half and 50 miles northwest of the city. Suprisingly, some of that snow was a little more powdery then we might expect for this time of year. I think the park made it down to 24 overnight.
