  1. Stayed warmer than the models had indicated, at least in and around DC. ~38 here for the low.
  2. DP 51 to 36 to 30 over the last three obs at DCA.
  3. If you want another Viking, Reiff is probably on the market. He's had a good season, but we've already drafted the LT of the future.
  4. Diversified can be a double-edged sword. Look at GE.
  5. 0.30” and still some to go. I think I can put away my garden hoses for the season.
  6. Our neighborhood was pretty active. Our street had a mini parade with about 20 kids. Many people set candy out on the front stoop or on tables. My daughter cleaned up, and now we have to figure out a way to ration it for the next month.
  7. My wife requires the house to be between 66 and 72 degrees at all times, so we just have the thermostat set to hot/cold all year long. There is no off-season.
  8. Solid 2-day totals across the area. The favored spots SE of DC get hit again.
  9. And, the power is out. Been a while here. Maybe the big March wind a couple years back. There’s no good weather reason, so it is a different cause. Close to 2”
  10. It looks like Zeta made the turn East as suggested by most of the models. The HRRR misses on this one.
  11. Interesting severe warning box put out by Blacksburg. Hazard...80 mph gusts
  12. Ha! I will say, to temper the expectations on the wind, that I'm not seeing any obs that suggest a backside anything like what the HRRR is throwing out. So, that would have to be something that develops later in the day. South of us could see some decent gusts, as Greensville/Spartensburg and Charlotte are seeing gusts into the 50s.
  13. The HRRR wants to bring the wind in on the backside as the rain is clearing out. 2-4pm as it moves across the area. I think there would have been a lot more discussion of Zeta here if we knew that we'd be tracking a 990mb hurricane remnant a few days ago!
  14. The HRRR has broken away from the rest of the models and now gives DC some windy conditions (gusts in the 40s) this afternoon. The 10z run was the first one to really show it.
  15. And Gulfport in excess of 100mph.
  16. Gust to 71 on the left side at MSY. Not shabby.
  17. Yeah, straight-up chilly. Only low-mid 40s with a breeze in the DC metro Monday afternoon.
  18. I'm pretty happy with the color here. The main problem is that the timing is never right to get everything going at once.
  19. One certainty is the we know how to treat this a lot better now. The virus is also infecting people that are healthier and able to fight it off. There is also the potential that virus as it is mutating and growing less deadly. These are all good things, and they were made possible by slowing the spread early on.
  20. Just about 0.5" now. A dreary Sunday. Midnight high of 57 with a current temp of 45.
  21. Maybe the last 75+ day? 77 at home.
