  1. Even after the nightmare December this winter is looking like our best since 2017-18. I know I know the bar is low but I’ve enjoyed the extended January cold and snow events. We’ve now had 4 snowfalls at my house, two TR events, 0.20” Thursday night, and 3.20” Friday into Saturday. Hoping for another this weekend. Already have two verified warning criteria events and an advisory event (verified the winter storm warning with the early week system as we did receive 0.25” of ice). Hectic couple weeks
  2. Excellent call map. Pretty awesome it looks like every county in the state received at least some wintry weather from the system
  3. Briefly got above freezing yesterday, high of 34.2. This morning was the coldest of the year and coldest in several years. 16.2 was our morning low. Currently 18.9
  4. There’s no telling how long it would take to get out of my neighborhood after a 32 inch snowstorm
  5. Probably worth noting the gulf low is still there on Tuesday and Wednesday. It kinda flattens the wave as it heads east from a pretty stout system in SE Texas. It starts as a cutoff low in the SW, pushes east, deepens, then dampens out moving over the gulf coast. If it stays a bit stronger it could possibly trend a bit further north. Worth watching at least before the main event this weekend
  6. Probably beats the ‘93 superstorm. Drives a nasty squall line through Florida like that one did too
  7. Yea I’ll take the hurricane sitting over Morehead City with likely 25 inches of blizzard in Raleigh and cash out this winter
  8. This is one of my favorite snows ever. The emotional roller coaster leading up, then a small snow the day before, all day in 20’s, then a period of heavy dry snow and absolutely no mixing start till finish, now cold and cloudy the day after. What an awesome event, especially after all these years of letdowns. Not huge totals here but it sounds like it snowed everywhere in the state and most if not all of central NC hit warning criteria. Happy happy happy. About to go out for my 3rd walk of the day
  9. Anyone else shovel their snow into shaded areas so the piles last longer?
  10. Woke up to a beautiful winter scene outside. Measured 3.2” average though there was more variability than normal, I’m guessing due to powder and winds. Probably lost a few tenths to compaction overnight but we hit warning criteria and I can tell you every bit of it is on the roads too. Deep winter!
  11. We are going to enjoy this one for awhile. Just a great lead up with the traditional southern roller coaster of emotions but we are in heavy snow and the lower 20’s. Can’t say that’s happened too many times in my life here
  12. I wish I could park my house under this band for the rest of the winter. RIPPING
  13. Pro tip: Buffalo Trace goes really well with over performing snowstorms. You heard it here first
  14. Beautiful, same here. Warning criteria is a formality at this point. Great storm, 23 degrees and snowing hard, you guys kidding me? When it was 75 a month ago I did not think this was possible
