  1. So is Reggie, Canadian and GFS
  2. It appears there is an eye beginning to form on satellite. Not surprised it was upgraded to a 'cane.
  3. I take it you haven't looked at any models since last night?
  4. At 8AM, central pressure is at 993mb, so it's apparently dropped 3mb since the 5AM update. Still looks like crap on satellite, but shear is down and it definitely looks more vertically stacked. I think it intensifies into a cane by 11AM. Also, starting to see what I think might be the core on radar.
  5. Also lol'd at the NAVGEM. Just checked it for shit's and giggles. Still, lot more model spread this AM between the two camps. NAM taking it just northeast of NYC and GFS is almost into Newport, RI.
  6. It's been improving throughout the day. Be interesting to see if this latest pulse produces an eye. Not sure why the Saffir Simpson Scale begins at 65kts, but it seems to be the difference between a discernible eye or not.
  7. Block Island looks like the place to be Sunday. Well for any of us.
  8. Trying to form an eye. It might be upgraded at 5, but I think more likely tonight at 11 pm update.
  9. Gloria was a lot more fun. Decent winds and hardly any rain. I think I was at Sarah Ave for Bob, but went to Salem, MA area for the storm. I may head down to my inlaws in Newport area tomorrow night.
  10. The last couple hours of frames do show nice upper level flows out in a nice uniform pattern. The shear from the north seems to be subsiding as well. Looks like some signs for intensification.
  11. Just getting around to check models, but pretty good model agreement with the track 72 hours out. Reggie seems to be the only one I've seen not making a coastal landing. What are we looking at, Weak Cat1/strong tropical storm at landfall?
  12. Just reached 90F for the 2nd time this year at the cabin. Already breached 90F 17 times in Lowell.
  13. 3.45" storm total, 2.89" in bucket today (Lowell)
  14. 2.22" in the bucket. 3" not out of the question. Looks like it will pivot near my area as it exits (Lowell)
  15. That was nuts. Bolt of lightning, instant thunder. Must have been within a couple hundred feet.
  16. Would rather be up north, unfortunately I got to be in Lowell for my kids last week of school.

    RIP James

No shit! I figured the warmest winter temps, but those outer benchmark storms must make up the difference. Regardless, living on the Cape or Islands gotta suck for snow. I honestly couldn't do it. Not in winter at least. 43.6/28, brrr

Ahh man, that sucks! I always got a chuckle out of his posts, especially the ones where he'd say something like "this storm's really going to deepen as it passes the Cape. I could see 6" on the back side". He was probably top 3 weenies in the NE forum. I felt so bad for him. Besides Nantucket, he was probably in the absolute worst place for snow in all of New England. Going to miss his weenie posts, but glad he was able to get his book published. 31 is too soon.
  19. Anyone know if there is still enough snow to ski the front 5 at Cannon?
  20. That is weird, not sure UML ever did either. Thanks Dendrite. Any idea where those measurements might have been taken?
  21. Campton Mountain is part of the community I live in. It's probably the only amenity that can possibly increase our revenue stream to offset costs. But without snow making, it's difficult to plan for being open, advertise, set up beer ski leagues, etc... In the 10 years I've been here, there have been two ratters that we didn't even bother trying to open. I'd really like to have more data to support snow making. We bought a fan gun 2 years ago and blew our rope tow trail (about an acre) with a foot of snow. It lasted through March. Last year the full-time retirees voted down making snow citing a bunch of lame excuses. We were able to blow it once again this past winter and we were able to keep the rope tow open throughout the winter (the rest of the mountain was probably open for about 6 weekends).. I'm shooting for a 2 phased approach where we cover one entire trail (3.5 acres), and possibly a second and run both the double chairlift and the rope tow using our municipal water supply (which is conveniently located on the mountain). The next year we can consider moving the water source to a man made pond about 1000' away. I believe with a dependable product, we'll be able to plan and possibly sell season tickets, beer leagues, schedule bands, etc... We offer night skiing too, so it's an excellent place to take the kids and hang out.
  22. I'm actually looking for year by year. I'm hoping to use this data to support snow making at my local mountain (Campton Mountain). Which looks like it will consist of only two fan guns, lol.
  23. I was hoping maybe someone from Plymouth State might be bale to tell me if the college might have weather records for seasonal snowfall?
  24. Looks like a few inches in Thornton, flipped to snow in Lowell. Partly cloudy and 87 here in PR.
