    I remember the whole thing like it was yesterday. I even remember the "conversation" I had with my co-worker about it and how we decided to leave the building despite the generally held belief that setting up in a doorway or somesuch is a better idea than trying to get out of a building during an earthquake. We finally got our chimney re-pointed last year. It had some decent damage from the quake, but obviously not as bad as the numerous chimneys that collapsed in my neighborhood that day.

    This right here. I honestly don't think there's much to be said beyond this except that there's a good argument to be made that the new, warmer background state will play havoc with our understanding of the effects of those drivers in our backyards.

    It’s actually not that weird. Summer rains tend to be a lot more localized, so some folks get hammered while others stay drier.

    We're supposed to have a back-to-school event at the pool at noon. I really hope it clears up, even if to let us grill some dogs and let the kids play.

    ^ I'm going to assume that Burke Road is flooded at the bend, but that's relatively low profile in terms of traffic.

    Woke up at about 3:00 and saw the light to moderate rain on radar. Went back to bed and woke up at 6:30 to absolutely pissing down rain. The water is rushing down the street and my uphill side yard is an inch or two deep. Radar estimate is 1.27" in the last 12 hours; 0.83" in the last 3 hours. Echoes have enhanced over Burke and it looks like the train is setting up. Wish I could say I'm excited for it, but I really don't need any more rain. And I really need to get a new gauge.

    I'm with H2O on debbing it big time. I honestly don't need any more water IMBY, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few trees uprooted in the neighborhood.

    I saw the blob of rain heading up 95 when I went to bed last night, but was surprised to see how much rain fell when I went outside this morning. I'm guessing we got 0.5-0.6" or so from that. Just a crazy tropical-feeling week or so period here. I can't recall a one like it recently.
