North Conway market is bizarre. Enormous amount of skier visits to go around but mismanagement and lack of investment has the market heavily lopsided to cranmore and BW. New quad at attitash is a step in right direction for vail to try and get back visits lost. I think there is space for an indy like Black in NoCo but it’s an uphill battle. Mt Abram is a good comp - operating on borrowed time with old lifts and snowmaking infrastructure that can’t go on forever, and no real shot at the $20 million investment it will take to replace. I sometimes wonder if nonprofit would be the best route for some of these places (like Black Mountain of Maine)- lean heavily into access for local and underserved communities. Maybe a better shot at financing $20 million from private philanthropy and government grant programs. I wonder if Granite Backcountry Alliance (a 501) will take a real hard look at Black.

Lee is massive no doubt. Still think winds underperform at my longitude and inland location though. Cool to see Sebago Lake light up on some of the higher res models though. GYX commented on the potential for winds south and east shores of the Lake.

I'm 200 miles from Eastport. The variable for damage here is wind direction and any downslope enhancement from the Whites. Fryeburg may gust higher than me. Not trying to downplay, there's gonna be outages and property damage but it's a hard forecast for mby. And obviously there's lot of time for this to go either direction. Model consensus right now says NAM is too far west.

NAM really is on it's own with Lee making landfall in Eastport. A few more tics east and this is meh for us.

My hope as well. NAM is also a lot further west than the globals fwiw. Not gonna matter for most folks in Maine but could make a difference for those of us a bit further west.
