  1. Neighbors weren't so lucky. 4 trees were uprooted within the same root ball.
  2. That was a good one! Suprised I still have power. Definitely a lot of large limbs down all over the place. Havent seen gusts that strong around here in a long time.
  3. Will be interesting to see if that line holds together as well as it is for the next 30 miles of eastward movement. If it makes it out my way it looks like it will be around 6-6:15. Really muggy but there is a nice breeze.
  4. Beautiful day out there. I drove into town and hitup produce junction for some flowers to plant, it was an absolute cluster****.
  5. Relatives in downingtown without power but pretty much a whole lot of nothing here. Seems like the twizzler lost its due north orientation. A kink developed and the line shifted in a NW direction, disrupting the continuous flow coming out of the south and it lost some steam. That's my half baked meteorology for the day, please weenie tag me. Thanks. Also itd be interesting to see the totals Lancaster recieved as it seemed to train over that county for quite a while, but by the time it reached Chesco it had reoriented in a SE to NW manner and began traveling NE, making a train scenario impossible for our area.
  6. I mostly watch the flyers since I've played hockey since age 5 but I like to watch the eagles too. One time i fell asleep at a phillies game and woke up with 3rd degree sunburn..
  7. Rain has been switching between a steady drizzle to moderate rain with each coming gust. Haven't seen any trees down but a lot of branches on the road. If this wind came after all the rain it'd probably be a different story.
  8. Sun out here too after that last cell rolled through. Mostly a lot of rain, barely any wind not even too much thunder. Feels great outside now.
  9. Rain was pretty underwhelming and aside from the gust I caught on video there wasnt much more to that storm. Spent the past hour or so cutting that up and taking it down to the burn pile. It was actually a 16-18" diameter limb that came down across the entire road. Those pines tend to always come down during strong storms early in the season, or with ice. Not the first time that has happened.
  10. Gust front brought a two big pines down across my road and in neighbors backyard. Got it on video as I was filming the front roll in I'll try to upload it to youtube it had some good lightning, thunder and swearing in it too.
  11. Front should arrive here in the next 15 mins. I can hear a constant rumble to my west it sounds like a jet engine.
  12. That was definitely a good storm last night. A lot of lightning and really heavy rain. Glad that was overnight so we can enjoy the nice weather today.
  13. And I slept through whatever flakes fell here this morning.
  14. It was great to get out there regardless of the conditions. I could definitely use some skins as I can see snowshoes being tough in deeper dry snow. That's a great write up of your trip, looks like it was a good day to check it out. And you're right there is a lot of potential for tours on that side of 242 but there is a pretty big drainage that runs along the road there so access looks less than ideal.
  15. I went to Burke yesterday, pics are at the end of the previous page. Today I opted to break out the snowshoes and snowboard to do some laps on Gilpin Mountain, which is adjacent to Jay Peak to the SE. It tops out at 3,015 and the base parking area sits around 1,850 ft. It was tough going through the rain crust. But I stuck to the N aspect on my second run and the W winds helped blow the 3-4 inches that had fallen into that zone. First run on Gilpin: 2,150-2,750ft Second run: 1,850ft to 3,015ft (Summit) Looking towards the dip. Bomb hole end of run 1 Run 2: I believe I am crossing the catamount trail here. Pines start to really thicken above 2800ft Looking E off the summit at 3,015ft.
  16. Went to Burke Mountain Tuesday. It was spring conditions, I wore a sweatshirt and was still hot. Real fun, some unique trails there I liked powerline the most.
  17. Smuggs was really nice in the morning before the temps rose and the rime and sleet started around 10am. It was still fun and floaty but a bit heavier and more difficult to maneuver in tight spots. Been rain/zr in Montgomery Center since I arrived.
  18. Gonna head to Jay or Smuggs in the morning. Havent been to smuggs since that one big 3 day event last January, and have been to Jay on 3 separate occasions since. However Jay may hold onto snow longer tomorrow, so I'm conflicted.
  19. What does it take to open the damn slides at whiteface? I know that they're basically all ice so snow doesn't stick too well, I guess they just need a certain wind direction and snow consistency for it to fill in? I would have guessed they'd be open after 29".
  20. The hike to the summit of jay takes 15-20 mins from either side. I prefer the upper lifts to be shut off on powder days. You can normally get up to the summit as quick or faster by taking a lift and hiking, as opposed to the tram. Not sure about Stowe.
  21. Anyone been to Le Massif de Charlevoix? Looks like a lot of great sidecountry terrain and great views. Would like to check it out sometime. Only ski area in Quebec I've been to is Mont Tremblant and I was pretty young.
  22. Great pictures! I live on Chester county and my area definitely hit the jackpot on that storm. Further south and west along the MD border I'm pretty sure there were totals closing in on 40".
  23. I wish I was more in tune with the weather back then. Definitely one of my favorite at-home storm memories. Last January 8-11th, 2019 at Smuggler Notch is definitely the best event I've experienced with 38 inches. That was a huge positive bust with really localized upslope bands. Stowe, 4 miles south reported 'just' 27 inches. What an amazing experience and all-time east coast snowboarding. Also had two 2ft+ storms at Jay last march that were incredible and a few other foot+ pow days in southern vt that were fun but rocky... I got really lucky, especially since I was working full time in PA picking and choosing 7 days in advance on storms. This year has been much slower for me.
  24. I got 28 inches in SEPA from this storm. First time ever seeing thunder and lightning during a snowstorm.
