Toss the GFS. Enjoy the freezer till about the 20th with occasional fluff events missing McHenrySnow south. The winter window opened will it be ready to close? ORD looks to achieve seasonal snow averages much to my disbelief.

While I'm happy futility records are in the rear view mirror for this winter; this turn around was a statistical long shot from the data you presented about similar starts. Also while February looks colder and with better chances to pad totals its not a given. A window opens but can quickly shut. Its not like its a foregone conclusion ORD is hitting 40"+ for seasonal totals.

6.5" down. Snowing moderately. Southern LOT can no longer state NW burbs always do better

Nice. Will have to get out to measure but figured 5-6". Areas south by LOT seemed to do well also

I think that puts ORD back over seasonal average for the date of 19.1" Quite a run and would guess a shot at exceeding seasonal totals. Considering Hoosiers list of anemic starts very few rebounded but this one has a chance.
