  1. Yeah pool and lake swimming season is over here. No way to recover to tolerable levels. At least to my liking. Last year I swam in the lake up to Oct 11th. That was the late exception. Average date for last swim is mid or late September.
  2. 35.4F this morning. Not sure if it frosted over but that is way low for this time of year. Very crisp mid/late October feel.
  3. Love the snow showing up in Northern Maine on the 6z gfs long range. I has this feeling that winter will show up early this year.
  4. Different track. Which makes a big difference. Juan can in from the Atlantic on a south to North direction. Damaging winds made it much further inland. Dorian can in on a sw to ne direction. Damage was confined to the coast. Euro was too deep but Dorian definitely got some extra juice when it started to go ET. The NW winds on the backside of the storm were no joke.
  5. wow is that another threat in the long range? I know it's a long way off but that is concerning.
  6. Thanks. Well I found out that my site is terrible to capture wind data. I have too many obstacles. I need to raise my anemometer. The airport recorded gusts to around 60mph which seems about what I experienced. Just a strong Nor'easter here but a long the coast is where the damaging stuff happened.
  7. Got power back. 26hrs without but was expecting worse. Not much damage at my place. Just far enough inland to avoid the strongest wind gusts. Didn’t get pics but there are lots in the net. I like this one.
  8. Yeah Dorian drinking some of that extra tropical booster juice. I notice that strange absence of clouds and thought maybe sting. Pretty cool. Maybe I can catch some of that later.
  9. I see NHC just upgraded back to a cat 2. This storm is toying with my emotions. Anyway conditions here are blustery with occasional strong gusts thrown in. I’d say sustained in the 25-30mph gusts in the 50’s. Worst is yet to come. Rain is torrential now. Falling in white sheets. I’m inland so I suspect conditions on the coast are much worse. So far one power bump but still holding in my area. Lots of others have lost theirs. 120k and climbing. Will post back when things change.
  10. Looks like a tad bit of good news. Dorian no longer gets to cat 2. Landfall a shade east of the city it looks like. Euro too west perhaps. It’s so calm outside now. Very eerie knowing what’s on the doorstep.
  11. I bet surge in the harbour will equal or rival Juan. I know it’s a bold statement but that’s what I’m thinking. Especially with a south wind. If it tracks just west of the city.
  12. Well the technical aspect will be determined later but that track correction west is killer. I know I’m splitting hairs but a jog east of me would put me in a more favourable wind direction. South wind is right off the lake. No bueno.
  13. Right up my fanny. No cheek spreading required. Unreal.
  14. Cat 2 now at landfall right over my house. F%#£ me.
  15. 100 million trees were blown down by Juan. See what kinda numbers Dorian will be able to produce. I suspect my yard landscape will look different on Sunday. Makes me sad but not a thing I can do.
  16. Juan was a low end Cat 2 100mph. This will be less intensity wise but a much bigger cane than Juan. Airport which is 20miles inland had a gust to 143kph(90mph) during Juan. See what Dorian can bring. It's looking pretty darn stout on Satellite.
  17. Well it's game on. I was hoping for the best but it seems mother nature has other ideas. Juan - "I am the most destructive Hurricane to hit Nova Scotia". Dorian - "hold me beer" I'll try and gets pics and any major updates for as long as I can.
  18. GFS with a west tick. Puts the eye right over me. Game on.
  19. NHC track now puts almost right over Halifax. Jeebus this thing wants to pull a Juan. I guess i'll be in the shit now.
  20. I might catch the eye, if there still is one at that point. That's a much closer drive for me than Richmond County CB
  21. Yes indeed. Cape Breton will be on the windy southeast side of Dorian. Mighty blow coming up for them.
  22. That track should lay down some damage. Yikes!
  23. Hurricane center is saying 150kmh wind speed just to my south. That’s close to cat 2 strength. Damn. So far if track holds, I’ll be on the less windy side. But it will be close. Nail bitter.
