  1. Well the technical aspect will be determined later but that track correction west is killer. I know I’m splitting hairs but a jog east of me would put me in a more favourable wind direction. South wind is right off the lake. No bueno.
  2. Right up my fanny. No cheek spreading required. Unreal.
  3. Cat 2 now at landfall right over my house. F%#£ me.
  4. 100 million trees were blown down by Juan. See what kinda numbers Dorian will be able to produce. I suspect my yard landscape will look different on Sunday. Makes me sad but not a thing I can do.
  5. Juan was a low end Cat 2 100mph. This will be less intensity wise but a much bigger cane than Juan. Airport which is 20miles inland had a gust to 143kph(90mph) during Juan. See what Dorian can bring. It's looking pretty darn stout on Satellite.
  6. Well it's game on. I was hoping for the best but it seems mother nature has other ideas. Juan - "I am the most destructive Hurricane to hit Nova Scotia". Dorian - "hold me beer" I'll try and gets pics and any major updates for as long as I can.
  7. GFS with a west tick. Puts the eye right over me. Game on.
  8. NHC track now puts almost right over Halifax. Jeebus this thing wants to pull a Juan. I guess i'll be in the shit now.
  9. I might catch the eye, if there still is one at that point. That's a much closer drive for me than Richmond County CB
  10. Yes indeed. Cape Breton will be on the windy southeast side of Dorian. Mighty blow coming up for them.
  11. That track should lay down some damage. Yikes!
  12. Hurricane center is saying 150kmh wind speed just to my south. That’s close to cat 2 strength. Damn. So far if track holds, I’ll be on the less windy side. But it will be close. Nail bitter.
  13. Wow this is taking in a lot more oxygen than I thought it would. Anyway to set the record straight. Yes I love weather. No I don't want things that I paid/pay for wrecked or damaged. If it happens, it happens. I just won't be excited for it as much as I was years ago. Richmond county is a 5hr drive from me so due to that alone, I won't be going there. However I have another spot in mind to get feeling of hurricane winds. Osbourne Head or the bluff on Lawrencetown beach.
  14. If I could experience it without my place being trashed, I'd be ok with that but then that would make me a selfish weather weenie. I suspect I'll see enough to get my fill of tropical activity. That adjustment east might bring the good stuff to your doorstep.
  15. Exactly. When I was younger I was over the moon at getting a hurricane. Juan was awesome but now I look back at the damage and think if I had to pay for it or clean it up, not so fun. Plus my place is heavily wooded.
  16. Being a homeowner and being responsable for the damages changes your perspective some. Still like weather but I have skin in the game i'd rather not loose now.
  17. Shift east last night. keeps me on the rainier side and not the high wind side. Could still cross over or move to my west but I don't think that will happen
  18. I'm sure someone will be there to capture the event. I'll have enough to contend with, flooding the big concern with some tree/ tree limb damage. The severe stuff should stay offshore but I expect tropical storm conditions of 60mph gusts even at my location. Im using Hurricane Hortense 1996 as my analog.
  19. This is gonna hurt. I can feel it zeroing in. 16 years since Juan. I guess my number is getting pulled again.
  20. 937mb just outside the benchmark. Is that even possible?
  21. Looks like a slight tick west. Not liking that move. As a property owner, you start to sweat these events more. I’d be more excited if I didn’t have anything at stake.
  22. The faster this weakens, the better. Track appears to take the center of whatever is left of Dorian, to my south. Rainier but less windy. Hopefully the trend east continues.
  23. Yeah you’re not kidding about gfs. It has be pretty focused on a NS direct hit. 18z keeps that theme going. That is concerning. Getting inside 5 days now.
  24. Just a close brush for me. Not sure what it will be when it gets here. Should be stormy conditions regardless.
  25. But this is neat what it morphs into. Road trip to Churchill Falls, Lab?
