  1. The wind started to blow 20mph about 30 minutes ago and my temp rose 2.8 degrees in 25 minutes. Just started to rain at 33.7 degrees
  2. It's fine. We lost the gazebo and steps down to the beach. They have been rebuilt already. We also lost the pool and hot tub but they won't be able to get to those until Feb. or Mar. That's about it except for some shingles and a few pieces of siding. All in all, not too bad. Salter Path/Indian Beach has made remarkable progress in their clean-up efforts as well. By spring, everything should be pretty much back to normal. But the tourist should hold off coming back for a few years just to make sure. Thanks for asking Heath.
  3. Just had a gust to 41. I had an inch of snow but not sure where it went after that.
  4. Had a coating or dusting or whatever you call it of sleet this morning along with a little bit freezing rain. Some snizzle and frozen smoke now. It's time for a decent snow. Doesn't look like we'll get one any time soon.
  5. A very light dusting here as well. Windy too, had a gust of 46 at 4:00 am. Upper twenties this morning with a cold wind chill. Feels like November now.
  6. Thunder and lightning here but just now starting to rain. Strange to see after how the last few days were. Still in the low 50's. Didn't hear anyone mention storms tonight.
  7. Per radar, it looks like things are lightening up from Yancey south. I have .89 in the gauge but apparently the SW part of the county has had some issues. Glad we won't be returning to a mess. We're headed back to Salter Path Tues morning. We're flying into Michael J. so we wouldn't have deal with flooded roads. They started letting people over on the island today that had return permits and we got ours before we left. What we hear is that Bogue Banks took a good hit but nothing that can't be overcome. A neighbor got back today and said our house didn't flood, just typical stuff. Glad this thing's getting out of here. I hate hurricanes. I want a 30 incher this winter to even things out.
  8. I'm not home but checked my weather station online and have a storm total of only .52. I called my neighbor to check in and he has .49. This is definitely an upslope event and doubt the western side will top an inch. You guys be careful and hope the flooding is minimal.
  9. Thanks Heath! Our house is oceanfront so I'm afraid it might be toast. I'm more worried about my island. This is the kind of storm that could change it drastically. Bogue Banks is no more than a few hundred feet wide in several places. Have spent most of my summers down here since I was a little kid. Would hate to see it get it torn up. But, there are two positives. Good insurance and I won't be here! :-)
  10. Thanks Bill. We're taking our fall vacation now so it better start snowing in Oct. this year. I'm starting to wonder if I might have problems up there as well. If this thing sets up right, the rainfall might be overwhelming. When Frances and Ivan came through within a couple of weeks of each other, it took our county a good year to fully recover. Flashing flooding was horrible.
  11. We were scheduled to move back on the weekend of the 22nd. Not sure what we're going to do now. We haven't been to NYC in a while so I booked a flight and a room for a week on Wed. Guess we'll come back to whatever is left and pack up then. I'm not staying on this island for this one if it comes through here.
  12. Back in the hills for a week to check on things. It's been years since I've seen things so lush. The mountains look amazing right now. Late July and every branch, creek, and river at full flow. Everyone's garden is beautiful. I saw a cow grazing in chest high grass. You guys are doing a great job taking care of things this summer.
  13. Jeez, you guys hang on up there. This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, piedmont North Carolina, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina. .DAY ONE...Tonight. With plenty of moisture in place, localized flooding is possible tonight from any heavy downpours associated with scattered showers and thunderstorms. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. ..Saturday...Heavy rain possible. ..Sunday...Heavy rain with flooding possible. Tropical moisture interacting with a frontal zone may bring organized heavy rainfall back to the region. ..Monday...Heavy rain with flooding possible. ..Tuesday...Heavy rain with flooding possible. ..Wednesday...Heavy rain with flooding possible. ..Thursday...Heavy rain with flooding possible.
  14. It about achieved that today. Hot and humid! Reached 76.7 and it felt like a steam bath. I can't remember the last time it was in the upper 70's in the middle of May. We're moving to Salter Path this weekend. As always, enjoyed talking "winter" with you people. Can't believe this was my 15th year on this forum. See you guys late September. Have a great summer.
  15. I've seen a picture of weirdman and he's a 98 pound fart of a man that readily admits that he does not have much luck with the opposite sex. Like most social outcasts, he finds that the internet is really the only way he can interact with society with any revelance. These are the type of people that usually end up living in their mothers basement when they're 35 wondering what's wrong with them. They usually follow the grade school mentality of putting down others in a futile attempt build themselves up. In every species of the animal kingdom you'll find that there is a certain percentage that didn't mentally develop to was is the acceptable norm. We just have to put up with people like him ,realizing it's not their fault and that with the advent of social media outlets they will be more visible than in the past .
