Still well above freezing here also at 34.6. A few flurries falling but that's about it. -

I'm a little too far west here for these types of setups to give me much but this could get a little dicey for points east. We've tracked a lot of ice this year. Still holding out for one more good snow just to salvage this winter. Clock's a tickin'. -

Back from a little winter hiatus and it doesn't look like much has changed except my skin color. Hillbilly white to Valentines Day red in 10 days. But it was nice to get away for a while. Thanks to you guys for not letting me miss out on a good snow. Maybe a flake or two next week? You know property taxes are getting out of hand when Bob has to work at Ingles to pay them. https://www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2019/02/13/answer-man-former-wlos-weatherman-bob-caldwell-works-ingles/2846194002/ -

Me either. Flurries have turned into light snow. Where did this come from? Expected sunny skies today. Got down to 8.6 this morning, up to 12.2 now but the wind has relaxed a little. -

Had 2.5 here. I was going to complain about another non-event but I won't. Y'all don't deserve that. Here's hoping for a better February. Leaving out for a while Friday for a little r@r. You guys will probably get plastered next week. -

Wow. Temps are actually rising a little here. Up .8 degrees in the last hour. Moderate snow with a light breeze. -

Wow. Thanks. I haven't seen these. Maybe a little more than I thought. Sure isn't much hype from GSP or the news outlets. Still hope we all can score something major in Feb. -

Since nobody has posted in a day here, I take it the event next week is nothing more than a little cold weather. Is there anything, I mean anything, on the horizon for something worth looking forward too? -

Some nice fatties falling now. Temp down to 30.1. But still won't amount to much though. This winter is rapidly becoming very frustrating. All these nickels and dimes are starting to leave marks. -

Just got back from dinner in Spruce Pine. Roads were fine just a little wet. I think the warm nose is already making its appearance, my temp has gone up 1.4 degrees in the past hour. -

I agree. At least at my location, I rarely see freezing rain or even much sleet for that matter. The times I do it's on the very frontend or backend of a system. Snow to rain or rain to snow is usually how it goes. We did have a storm in 1999(?) that had 4 inches of sleet then a foot of snow on top. It got really cold afterwards, the sleet locked up and we dealt with unplowable roads for days. Can't remember what year it was but we also had a bad ice storm. It was mostly confined to the valleys though. There have been others but still few and far between. Suits me. -

Nice little dusting overnight. Had a low of 12.8 with a wind gust of 44. That put the windchill at about -11. I hate that this weekends storm has kinda petered out. We've taken a month off now so it's time to really get back to winter. I had hopes that it was going be a banner year for snow and it still might be but it's time to get going. Besides the early Dec. storm and a few of light flows, it's really been a so-so season thus far. -

The wind right now is impressive. You can hear gusts coming from a valley away. It'll be raging around sunrise. -

It was a little dicey around here for a while. Had a storm total of 3.88 in which most of it fell in a couple of hours. -

I really don't get my spot forecasts sometimes.... Today Showers, mainly before 3pm. Patchy fog before 3pm. High near 58. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Some say it's because it's computer generated. Well, buy a better computer. -

About 2 and a half inches here in Yancey. You guys to the SW usually double, if not triple, my totals in rain events like this. Looking at radar, there will be flooding issues here soon. I can actually hear the creek roaring below my house. That usually means it's close to being out of its banks. -

Thirty-year average here is around 60". But I've had several years in the past that were over 100. Those years it's snow on snow all winter long and like Met said, it's on the ground from Dec. to Mar. You feel like you're living in a maze, walking in shovelled paths where ever you go. -

Measured 7.5 here with flurries. Windy and 24.1. I gave up posting pics a while ago. Compress this, compress that,...no, let me just attach it. Buy more storage. -

I've got about 6 here with light snow. Temps have actually risen the past couple of hours and the wind has dramatically picked up. Just had a gust of 48. And you're right, this stuff is sloppy. There's a lot of mud underneath it here. I had 2.3 inches of rain before the changeover. But snow around Christmas is always nice. Definitely an elevation dependent snow. Went out for dinner and there's nothing below 3000k in Yancey. I have no idea how that magical 3500 feet line was set but it's always pretty much spot on. Sometimes you can see a straight across snowline on a ridge and it'll be close to that. -

At least 4" here with moderate snow. I'll measure later. The asphalt drive still seems to be pretty clear. Temp has levelled off somewhat at 28.5. Gusty wind.
