  1. I really thought as of last week it was going to be pretty bum year for nice foliage. However, just in the last couple of days, the hills around my house look like calico mountain. The colors are really popping and looking really nice. So there is some salvaged foliage happening
  2. I'm a fan of a few meteorologists here in Connecticut. Ryan, of course, and I also am a fan of Gil Simmons from WTNH. WTNH. He gave a bit of his view of one he thinks. We'll see our first flurries, and first widespread snow. He gave a guesstimate of flurry somewhere around the 7th of November, and thought around the 27th We would have a shot of some snow across the state. Now. Of course not talking blockbuster snow, but some snow. None of this is set in stone, and he even said it's just something he sees as a possibility. Something to look forward to for now.
  3. Not in my neck of the woods. We have been having on and off rain since this morning
  4. I have to be honest, I'm hearing things about this El nino being strong or one of the top El Nino's. Yet I'm hearing other people saying it's a modern El nino and it's probably not going to get stronger than that. What gives. I feel like the ones who say it's at a moderate El nino and will probably stay around that level. Have given better detailing than the ones you say. Strong El nino to super El nino. I feel like that's coming from the media.
  5. Funny.... I had zero blooms on my three Hydrangeas as well. Very strange. I also have several dogwoods in my yard, and I had more berries this year than I've had in it the last three. The last time I had a lot of berries on the trees was when we first moved in. I remember We had a fair amount of snow that winter, We also have a huge amount of black walnuts that are falling from our black walnut tree. It's crazy, but I can almost shovel them up and put them in the wheel barrel .... so here's hoping for a normal Winter.
  6. Just got home from work. It was spritzing in West Hartford, it's now starting to rain here in Plainville.
  7. I think he's just fishing for responses contrary to the the link he posted about a historically strong El nino.
  8. It looks like Fairfield county is getting some pretty heavy rain returns ( strange... It almost looks like sleet with the reds? )..... anyway.... We are right on that cusp... Even me being 5-7 miles north of you can make a difference.
  9. I pray it leaves Friday night dry... We have tickets for the Trail of Terror and it would be my daughter's first time!
  10. I know! I'm glad it's salvages half our weekend. Sunday looks good now, Saturday has some light rain and half of Connecticut, but the other half would stay mostly dry. If this was winter .. when a few days ago where they were telling us we were going to have a major snow storm, there would be a lot of broken hearts this morning. Lol
  11. When is this for. The one for this weekend followed by another one early in the week? Or is this a different time period ?
  12. I remember that storm. It was pretty crazy. Classic super strong Nor'easter. I remember that night as clear as day as we're at our friend's house for a get-together. Great storm
  13. Your like the scrooge of the weather world.... Or the Grinch. Lol...... Kinda like having a Scrooge or Grinch on the forum..... especially when you get a rise out of some.
  14. My one hope is it stays dry for Friday the 20th. Taking my 10 year old daughter to the Trail of Terror. She said she's not afraid and ready for it! Lol Just don't want it ruined by rain ( but it can Snow!! ) haha
  15. Thanks for the warning..... can't believe how " NOT " wet it is out there.
  16. You're correct. Just before You responded... I realized it was 2019. I cannot remember what happened in December of the year before. At least not in this area.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, we had a nice snow storm in December that year. I think it was a little over 12 inches at my house. But it was like 2 days of sleet one day and then this big snow the next. We even had thunder and lightning during the sleet portion of the storm
  18. It's not going to be a washout. Some scattered showers around today on and off. Although there's some heavy ones in the east part of CT. Tomorrow looks like they'll be a band that sets up in a narrow area of Connecticut. But all the places on either side will see. Not much rain at all. So it's not going to be as bad as originally anticipated. We'll see what happens
  19. In all fairness, went black and read what you had posted. Although you were very excited about it a big change to more wintry pattern heading into later December, you also did give some thoughts on the possibility of what could happen with us not getting the right setup. I always respect what you post.
  20. Hmmmm... I remember last October/November there was a lot of talk of a good pattern setting up... by you as well ( and please know.. not saying this in as it is a bad thing ). Even you had mentioned late in the season that things didn't quite work out the way you had thought ( and several others I might add ) That's what I meant with my post, but I am hoping that this season is at least somewhat better than last season.
  21. Is actually a good sign. Last year at this time there were all these calls that went to was going to be amazing. I'm just about everyone. I think we all went into December thinking this is going to be epic and it turned out to be a big weenie dud. So I'm going with a better winter. Plus, this whole super Nina thing, I'm not sure that's happening. Moderate at best.
  22. That's what happened last weekend. But then it corrected itself a little more west
