  1. Monterey or Jamestown are usually better than Crossville. Or NW Cumberland County is good but no hotels here other than a campground on Exit 311
  2. Yeah it seems like all the models are struggling hard with that right now. Some had snow hitting middle Tennessee with a band of freezing rain on the western edge which seemed really odd.
  3. OHX latest disco actually sounded more bullish than when the WSWs were put out early AM. Basically said some places are gonna get wallop and 8"+ isn't out of the question. The question is where these bands will set up. Doesn't mean much for the Eastern part of the state, but just a few hours ago even the midstate was looking almost blanked.
  4. Looks like a "realistic" possibility. We'll see. Seems like maybe things are starting to come back to us after the crazy model runs for most of the day.
  5. Yeah sometimes they get a lot depending on the track but usually the Plateau areas will always outdo Livingston. Cookeville also fared well the last two events which is uncommon for them as well. The Plateau areas still averaged 4-7" in each of the two snowfalls though, but a line from Murfreesboro to Livingston was on the higher end it sounded like. If there is a good place in Tennessee Sunday, Livingston looks to be up there again. And you probably will have to drive through Crossville and Monterey to get to Livingston anyway so you can see if it's worth continuing on lol.
  6. Monterey or Jamestown would surely be better than Livingston? I mean maybe not with this system but they do have elevation on their side over Livingston. Along with NW Cumberland.
  7. Can someone post the snow map for the latest NAM and/or HRRR? Thanks
  8. NWS in Nashville raised my low from 27 to 32 on Saturday night, and the high on Sunday from 30 to 36 in the last hour. Yikes.
  9. Is there any reason for us to think this won't make another major shift between now and Sunday morning? Maybe since the second part us now on shore it is more locked in as far as track? Just curious since on Wednesday the heaviest axis of snow (besides NC) seemed concentrated on Western Kentucky. But now in the latest models they are only squeezing out a couple of inches there. Right now Tennessee is in a good spot but it feels like this storm has been 48 hours out for about 3 days now lol.
  10. NWS took our temperatures in NW Cumberland down to 28 tomorrow night (from 31 last night) and the high of 36 on Sunday down to 30. However, they added in a chance of rain on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, both of which were calling for all snow last night. That would suck if it switches to rain well after the snow started. Especially if it really does top out at 30.
  11. Looks like @Wintersnow888 and me better grab milk and bread ASAP
  12. He seems a bit pompous to me...I could see how maybe there would be some friction with him in the workplace. I'm probably completely wrong but just how I feel from what little I've watched him (and maybe in part due to his nickname and always saying "I told you so" after coming within 3-5 degrees of the high temperature he forecasted that day)
  13. EDIT: Apparently I ended the video a little early and he showed other model solutions with more, but this was the first one he showed.
  14. David Aldrich has a second low going through Memphis as well (as of 8:30pm ET) and then cutting up around Knoxville (similar to WATE but further east). Mentioned that this will cause mostly rain in areas, and then whatever model he used spits out the most meager of amounts that I've seen from any models today for Tennessee. Hopefully he will be wrong. Honestly his map looks closer to what the models were showing two days ago with how far north he has the heavy snow.
  15. I watched it tonight (wasn't really listening to what was being said though) and they seemed to be fairly serious about what could happen. They had 4 counties in bright pink (on the plateau) as the "heaviest snow area" but I didn't hear them give specific amounts. But the snow axis they showed on screen and a couple other things made me think they were looking at it as being much more significant than WATE was. I believe on the 5pm broadcast they weren't as enthused about it as they were at 11 though (based on the article on their website from the 5pm broadcast)
  16. Sorry I had the TV on WATE and rewound it after your initial comments and paused immediately when I saw the low in Memphis. Then after I unpaused it I saw that it somehow got even worse when it went straight up to Nashville lol. I haven't seen anything even close to that on any of the outputs.
  17. They showed the low going through Memphis?? Is that being backed up anywhere?
  18. My bad, I was looking at the year wrong lol. I thought you were referring to February 20-21, 2021. Yes, we started as snow, then sleet, and then heavy freezing rain in the February 21, 2015 storm. Woke up with no power and trees laying everywhere with over an inch of ice on everything. I'd say it tied the Feb 1998 snowstorm we had in SEKY where I lived for the worst storm I've been in. Our vehicle was pretty much glued to the ground (Sorry to derail thread for a sec). East TN did get mostly snow out of it, even in the valley ares. Definitely was a weird one.
  19. Ah ok. I think on the Plateau where I live, we didn't get anything from that storm. But we did have snow on the 16th and/or 17th that started out as heavy snow before going to sleet, and then plain old rain.
  20. Oh ok. I don't really remember any ice storms here the last couple of years so maybe we got snow too or something else while other parts of town got ice. Really, the one in 2015 is the last one I can remember here but it also stood out because of how bad it was. We had two ice storms in the same week then with the second one on Saturday making it look like a tornado hit.
  21. February 20, 2015? Worst ice storm in Cumberland County history if so. I believe Kentucky got snow in that one though so maybe not. But places east of us also got snow that typically wouldn't have, especially when Crossville had freezing rain.
  22. Yep, we got down to 7 or 8 in Crossville over the weekend and the pipes burst at work. Not fun to cleanup. It's been colder than last January here for sure
  23. I know this is an older comment but the January 29-30, 2010 snow was a statewide event and most likely what the other poster is referring to. Almost the entire state got 4-12 inches from it with a warm nose causing some areas to get less, and more sleet and freezing rain. One place the poster can check is weather.gov snow cover maps and can see the snow coverage for every day in January 2010 (I believe they have maps going back to 2003 for snow cover) and narrow it down to what event it was.
  24. Here's a few more pictures from Crossville today that I took at the Campground nearby. It's snowing again here now from the band in Middle TN so maybe we can squeeze out another inch or two. Sorry for so many pics just playing with my camera and I really like the scenery there:
  25. It's crazy because places in South Cumberland County/Central area only got a dusting in some places (Lake Tansi etc). I don't believe they got much more than that on Sunday either. It's crazy in this county/area how much more it snows in Mayland/Pleasant Hill/Monterey direction despite being similar elevation to most of the county. I guess it's where it smacks into that part of the Plateau first or something.
