  1. 6” here in Slingerlands. In a lull with just flurries. Temp 27. .
  2. Welcome! I’d say between light and moderate but the snow light might make it look heavier lol. Closing in on 1/4”. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Went from nothing to moderate with great snow growth in 10 minutes. Nice coating already. 22/11.
  4. Interesting seems like Killington has highest forecast totals, but precip looks heavier south of them. I’d say Stratton Okemo in sweet spot?
  5. Gonna try to head to Windham tomorrow. I think they’re in a good spot and the drive is easier than Stratton. I can head down the thruway for 2/3 off the trip. .
  6. Euro has more robust low level cold so east winds glide over it and downslope less? .
  7. If anyone is ever in the Albany area, a must see is Thacher Park on the Helderberg Escarpment. I teach at Voorheesville High School just below the escarpment at 400 ft. 2 miles west and you are at 1600 ft. They clean up with an east wind. The overlook at Thacher is at 1100 ish. 150ft. Cliff straight down and then very steep down to 400 ft. Amazing views of the HV, Taconics, Berkshire’s, southern greens and even the Daks on a clear day. Great trails and XC skiing. They must get close to double the snow Albany gets. Upslope heaven on an east wind. I can be there in 15 -20 min. One of my former students fell off of the cliff a few years back and lived. Only the second person to ever survive the fall. He fell 150 ft. Straight down and then bounced 400 ft. further. The rescuers repelled down and gave him a blood transfusion on site. Lucky to be alive ….needless to say! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I guess this looks pretty reasonable. I’ll take my 3-4” and run. It can be tough to forecast how far west the downsloping effects go. Sometimes it stays east of the Hudson, sometimes it goes pretty far west to the base of the Helderbergs. Often it’s less significant when the cold air dome is underestimated and the East winds goes over there to of the dome. Looks like fun times in Buffalo! I’m going to attempt to drive to Windham tomorrow. Should be a fun drive up the Catskill escarpment. .
  9. Gotta admit. Not very confident of my forecast for Albany county. Euro make me like maybe????? .
  10. I agree. And snow growth doesn’t look great. Ratios probably will be crap. .
  11. Ahhh, yes. I always thought that the NAM’s ability to sniff out mid level warm intrusions was when there was a blocking high to the north. Hopefully your on to something. Perhaps the Euro has a clue. We hope and pray. .
  12. Epic Euro NAM battle. At least it’s fun to watch to see which one folds. They’ve both been so consistent. All about the arctic air depth and magnitude? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Bob Turk!?!?!? He's still alive lol????? He was my go to weather forecaster when I grew up in Baltimore. I was there from 1969-1985. Loved me some Bob Turk!!!!! He seemed old when I was a kid lol, but I guess all adults seem old when your young. On another note, love the .5-2.2" precip gradient in Albany County. GFS hittin that orographic bong hard! My biggest fear in the Hudson Valley with these types of lows.
  14. Ski areas could use some more rain followed by a hard freeze to solidify their base.
  15. In conclusion: Lot's of model consensus that a big storm is a comin. A zillion model cycles to go. Many possible outcomes. Weenies are shaken, not stirred.
  16. The more energy that phases from that short wave diving out of Canada, the further west this is going. Many options depending on how these players decide to dance…….grinding like a middle school dance in the 2000’s or barely touching like the 50’s. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Navy should take over the GFS. That’ll straighten it out.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
