  1. I just bought a Buff filter tube. Seems really nice. Comes with 5 filters. I don’t plan on changing them as often as they recommend. .
  2. Rut roh. Here we go, from Vermont... CROSS STATE TRAVEL INFORMATION The State of Vermont has suspended its leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont. Leisure Travel Due to raising COVID-19 case counts across the Northeast, effective on November 10, 2020, the State of Vermont has suspended its leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont. A regional map will continue to be maintained on the Agency of Commerce and Community Development and the Department of Financial Regulation websites for informational purposes only. The regional map will continue to be updated weekly on Tuesdays. The regional map is populated with raw data from Johns Hopkins University and uses multiple factors to determine how many active cases are in each county. Read the complete methodology for how active cases per million residents is being calculated. The aggregated data by county is also available. Awwwww[emoji90] .
  3. A year ago tomorrow skied top to bottom at Killington. Different years, different fears. Slowwwww start to winter!! .
  4. https://planetski.eu/2020/10/29/covid-19-cases-surge-in-europe-with-serious-worries-for-start-of-ski-season/ Europe ain’t lookin so good. Yikes. .
  5. Woke up to snow falling and a light coating. Woot! .
  6. Currently there are no planned limits to ticket sales at Gore and Whiteface. They’re waiting for direction from Cuomo and the Olympic authority. Makes me a bit worried about lift lines. .
  7. Makes sense. Hopefully the skiers don’t show up in hoards and ignore the rules. The old “don’t be the reason we lose our season” slogan. I’m a rule follower lol with a good dose of guilt, so I’m sticking to NY this winter. Gonna shred those slides at Whiteface!! .
  8. My big question is what do they do about the county by county travel restrictions. If they were open today, there are so few counties outside of VT where you could “legally” travel from and ski without quarantino. How strict will they be? How about for season pass holders. I haven’t been able find this mentioned in any of the VT ski areas websites? Anyone hear anything? .
  9. Crazy contrast. 121F in CA and then snow in Rockies! Gotta love it!! .
  10. I completely agree. It’s gonna take a while to roll out. .
  11. Well, I don’t want to say that I hope I can’t go to VT this year, but I did just drop $759 (went up to $919 on 9/3) on my first ever season pass for N.Y. mountains lol. Tough calls this year. Now we wait and see what happens. If cases skyrocket this winter, might turn into a skinning / backcountry winter. Time shall tell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Love it! Wait, when did Alteri’s close? When did you work there? .
  13. Think I’m going to bite the bullet and get a Gore /Whiteface/ Bellayre pass this week. I like how they are working towards carbon neutral and staying in state seems like the safest bet. Now hopefully it will be a rare blockbuster ADK winter.... you know.... like we used to have in the good old days. When there is good snow, Gore and Whiteface are fantastic mountains. $399 for my niece and $759 for me, unlimited at all 3 mountains with 1 free guest ticket, 1 50% off guest ticket, free XC skiing and fall foliage rides. Not to shabby. .
  14. Gore is spectacular with lots of snow. So diverse. Good steeps and endless glades. Pretty mediocre when snow isn’t good. And I’m not impressed with their man made snow. Too much water. .
  15. Been to Platty once. Crazy drive, great mountain. Went after 3’ of powder. Epic day. I think I have to make like 30 turns to get there lol. Can’t get there from here. .
  16. I grabbed an awesome tele setup on Facebook marketplace. Everything is like new with skins and all. K2 Shreditor 92's / 22 Designs AXL bindings, Garmont Ener-G boots. I haven't telemarked since the 80's and I learned on skinny skis with leather boots and 3 pins with no cables. Haven't tried it in 30 years, but should be much easier with this setup. Boots fit perfect and just had them heat molded. Will VT let me in this winter lol? Their county by county map is something. Things feel pretty safe here in Albany County right now, yet Albany County is on the mandatory quarantine list this week. Will ski areas be requiring Certificates of Compliance? That's why I'm reluctant to get an Epic or Ikon Pass. If I'm "stuck in NY, I was thinking of getting a Gore / Whiteface / Bellayre Pass, but I'm feeling pretty gun shy about it. I'm also wondering how the season pass thing will work with mountain capacity limits. Tough decisions all around. Let's hope for a ton of snow so that we can ski just about anywhere!
  17. Looking at Killingtons webcams, I can't believe how much snow they have for mid May. A combination of a cold spring and no skiers and boarders pushing the snow all over which must speed up melting. My son said that Mt. Bachelor in Oregon is opening back up for their last week. 2 chairs and 500 pass-holders a day. They apparently sell out instantly. 1-2 people per quad chair socially distancing. Gloves and face masks required at all times. Sounds crazy stressful if you read the pages and pages of rules lol They have a crap ton of snow out there.
  18. 6.3” here. Very satisfied!! Beautiful out there. Enjoy peeps! A welcome distraction!! .
  19. Dumpilicious here in Albany. Just measured 5” in yard!! Worried about power. Sticking to everything. .
  20. 31.5 /27 with steady light snow. 1/4" down. Feels like the first snow in November LOL.
  21. Gore was nice today. Super bluebird day. Nice soft bumps in the glades. Crystal clear view of the high peaks. .
  22. I’ve been eyeing that place for several years but haven’t made the trek. Looks awesome. I heard they had great tree skiing and a nice triple black lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Locals complaining that crowds were getting Colorado like. We got lucky and avoided lift lines all week. .
