  1. Also, if I’m not mistaken, their first mission is to protect life and property, not so much being correct as we may think of it. .
  2. [emoji817] my parents are currently in Florida, and I kind of mentioned this to them when they asked about the storm. One app says one thing, another app something else. Sometimes it’s a *feeling*; not very scientific, mind you, but some years the feel is there, some years it isn’t. The past two years it hasn’t been. For those of us old enough, we’ve seen the good and the bad, and intuition helps. It’s like a date or a job interview; sometimes you just have a feeling. .
  3. Not sure if some you Olds recall February 5, 2001, but that was an over performer in my area, which wasn’t yet developed, and we had fight through the snow in muskets and bearskins. One of my faves. .
  4. I would thoroughly enjoy being surprised, but if we get 16” out this in Morristown, then I’m also playing in the Super Bowl this evening whilst dating a billionaire pop star. .
  5. The Weather Channel isn’t what it used to be. (*what it was thirty years ago) .
  6. Great storm. Probably will see one like it one more time. .
  7. I was asking this the other day… if it’s bad, why use it? .
  8. I assume that’s sarcasm. .
  9. I agree with this. There’s a butterfly effect that no one can correctly forecast more than a few weeks in advance. If you’re off by half a degree somewhere off of Greenland or the Seychelles, the variance inevitably grows larger over time, throwing a forecast into disarray. Let’s be real, a lot of long term forecasts are educated guesses. Doesn’t mean they’re bad or have wrong processes that went into them, but there are just some things we can’t know or control. .
  10. IMBY time? I need to know if MeeMaw and Pa can head into town, as we’re a one-horse home in Morris County. .
  11. Lebron is an all-time great, but Jordan is #1 for the sole reason that he learned against the Celtics, grew up taking a beating from John Salley and Bill Laimbeer and the Pistons, and then kept winning while facing the 1990s Knicks. Jordan just cannot be compared, IMO. That’s not taking anything away from Lebron’s longevity and greatness. .
  12. Eh, they’re all as deluded and crazy as the posters here. [emoji2371] .
  13. They’re only in the hinterlands where the mountain people live. .
  14. FWIW, the city and coast had a ball for twenty years from 2000 on. The vibes we’re feeling now are a whole lot like that of the early 1990s (that’s the 1900s for the kids with their telephone texting machines)… small amounts of snow with much more north and west of town. .
  15. I’ve seen this movie for years… the NWS has a knack for either underselling a storm (I get an advisory and then they issue a warning *after* the majority of snow has fallen), or this one has the vibe of watch to advisory. Who really knows though, right? It’s why we play the game. I think we all get a kick out of the fun surprises. .
  16. Mahomes is fantastic. Brady’s an all-timer. Still, Mahomes is really, really good until he isn’t. .
  17. Eh, believe it when I see it .
  18. Why would it be different this time? If they’ve recently trended north, why wouldn’t this one? It’s like until someone other than Brady can beat Mahomes, I’m going to favor Mahomes. .
