  1. Nice burst of +SN after a soggy day. Covering up all the slush in my driveway. Hardest snow I’ve seen from the entire event. Upcoming week seems like real time winter conditions and maybe genuine chance of building a decent snowpack.
  2. 16” snowpack taking a beating this morning with +RN after about 6” new last night and 10” from weekend storm. Should absorb but when it freezes again will be bullet proof. Short lived cold powder snow conditions. Looks like very similar set up for Saturday. Wind here not an issue. Different story in westerly downslope regions from spine of the Greens.
  3. Get used to it. Weather extremes just going to get more frequent with CC.
  4. 4” here outside Montpelier VT with 3” in last 1-1/2 hour. Headlamp was overwhelmed with density of snow coming down. Already 2/3 of the way to our high end forecast amount of 6” and changeover not progged till 2AM.
  5. 4” new here and 3 in past 1-1/2 hrs. Pouring snow. 4.9 was last NWS winter weather most probable for Montpelier. Will have that already at this rate in about 1/2 hour.
  6. Feeling pretty good right now with over an inch already down and moderate bordering on heavy snow. Generally seems like net gain is on the way for snowpack with more limited rain impacts. This snow is going to load up the trees significantly just in time for arrival of fierce winds, so major power impacts seem very likely.
  7. My wife and I are planning a trip to Taos-Santa Fe area to look at land. Maybe a retirement destination in a few years. Hopefully you’ll still be posting about New Mexico winters then. Would be interested to learn more about winter storm trends in the mountains of northern New Mexico. Can you repost your winter outlook.
  8. 9” final total here in N Central Vermont, 3” coming overnight and 6” during daylight hours. High ratio snow.
  9. Snow has started in earnest in North Central VT. Nice diamond crystal pattern on the ground in my headlamp. Hoping we all get a nice outcome when all is said and done.
  10. With Winter Storm Warning now posted for my neck of the woods in North Central VT, looking forward to getting solid snow cover back in the yard. My new cross country skis have gotten little use. Will enjoy this and hope for some changes for Tuesday-Wednesday. Would be nice to get a snowpack that last a bit.
  11. I love these complicated micro scale winter weather anomalies that sneak up on us. Never a bad thing to see winter looking like winter. Time for a major refresh of the mountain, though.
  12. 4” of dense snow as of 5:45. Moderate snow ongoing. Waiting for third straight Monday morning power outage..
  13. J. Spin, have really appreciated your detailed assessment of the snowpack per elevation this season. Very informative for planning getting out to ski. Interesting and encouraging early season. Seems we will luck out again especially at summits with this one. Temps never soared today in East Montpelier, have topped out in low 40s. Changeover appears ahead of schedule as already seeing some frozen returns in high peaks of the ADKs.
  14. Mt. snow reporting 46” storm total this morning!
  15. 3” overnight, 13” storm total. Light snow still falling.
  16. 3” overnight, 13” storm total. Light snow still falling.
  17. I had great rates like that for a bit earlier this morning, pickin up 4 1/2” in about 2 hours. Sadly, we seem to be between snow bans right now in E. Montpelier. Pretty much stopped over last hour. Hoping for better as afternoon wears on.
  18. Flake size here just increased significantly. Dumping. 5” and counting. Lights flickering.
  19. 3:5”. Light snow. With just this amount, trees already look seriously loaded.
  20. I am thinking NWS needs to expand Winter Storm Warnings northward based on latest model guidance spinning this thing a little north of Provincetown. With that evolution, can’t see how better dynamics don’t get thrown back further north and west. Anyway, not a lot of NNE chatter, but maybe we should get some going on this.
