  1. Still booming and lighting up, over 2". A couple roads including rt 181 in town blocked for trees/wires.
  2. Radar just keeps filling in over us. Pretty cool, now lets see it with white stuff in winter lol
  3. Latest update has multiple spots 4-5'" already with a lot more to go. Maybe 6-7"?
  4. Looks like some areas in Ware-Brookfield could grab 4-5" . 1.48" here, less than a mile west has a tenth or so. Some big thunder and lightning now.
  5. Multiple hummingbirds on feeders are like f- this, just waiting it out under cover lol
  6. Windows open, house down to 64. Loving it.
  7. Good rumbles on the Quabbin. Waiting it out in the truck.
  8. Yea, the Euro is really building it back in. I wouldn't mind a torch next week followed by starting September with morning lows in the upper 40s a la GFS.
  9. Thunder and lightning but DIT said reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was his final, most essential command.
  10. Should see some storms late tonight. Happy we live here. I'm trying for 100% wood this year. We were about 80/20 last year. Damn oil and electric combo is over 2k a winter to keep the 1500 square foot house in the low 60s. Learned the hard way the first winter. Since we will both be home this year I imagine the stove will be running 24/7. Ran through 2.5 cords last year just running it in the evening and overnight. Its a 20 year old Jotul so minimal secondary burns and a packed stove really only throws out heat for 5-6 hours. I have about 5 cords of oak and maple ready for this year. Always a battle trying to get ahead. Split my oak into toothpicks for quick trying and packing more in the stove. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the accents.
  11. Beautiful day to work outside and split wood for next winter. Damn Crohn's has probably taken 20 pounds off me this summer and I barely got through half a cord. Only 6-7x more needed for 2021-2022. Looking forward to some thunder later after a jump in the pool.
  12. Down at the in-laws in East Haddam. Some large dark towers starting to form.
  13. Na, just like in June it will be 81/62 and folks will be commenting "oppressive."
  14. I'm happy Mass schools open a month after many schools down south so we can see what happens. North Paulding (where the now famous picture of the hallway came from) is closed again today since they have now had 35 test positive after 4 days of classes on a reduced schedule. It's another BioGen in the making.
  15. If we are going to be stuck in Mass then Berkshire East is the best terrain we have...unless we all storm Brodie.
  16. Last week I worked on the neighbor's lawn a bit with a thatching rake after the storm. Lots of dead/dormant grass. Pretty impressed with how it is filling in and greening up in 5-6 days. Just goes to show how grass keeps growing in this heat with little rain if you get that crap out of it.
  17. For you maybe. It makes sense given your high elevation puts you closer to the sun.
  18. Hope everyone is enjoying the last real torch of the year. Cider doughnut season cometh!
  19. The half inch of rain the past week has completely rejuvenated the lawn. Was getting a little off color in one section of the newer fescue planted the spring. 3-4 weeks I will dethatch, overseed, and start a nitrogen blitz.
  20. Only reason I know of this is because the New England Historical Society on FB. They have some really interesting little reads. https://www.newenglandhistoricalsociety.com/the-deadly-october-gale-of-1841/
  21. Yea I could not imagine it. I only ski it on weekdays after a decent storm, it gets scrapped down fast (see pic). The pucker section is almost the length of Upper Giant Killer. In the above pic is my wife, it was her 3rd year skiing I believe the first time she did it. When asking about a new trail she always asks if it is more difficult than the Poma Line. The next lift service/unmarked thing I would love to ski are the Survey Lines at Smuggs. I've only seen one video and it looks similar but more intimidating.
  22. The old Poma line or the back side? Back side is flat. I don't know how people rode up that thing, so damn steep. The narrowness, old footings, and steel cable along with ice falls makes it one of the harder trails around. Typically survival skiing because getting a good flow would take a ton of snow and if you get much speed you'll be screwed. And I've hit it on 28" of fresh, still bare spots.
