  1. I'm clearly no met, but I thought we had an enhanced level for that May 15th line but have a ton more CAPE now. One lingering thought (worry) I keep having though is why is the NAM so calm when it should be off the wall?
  2. Funny talking with others about this system. Neighbors when out walking the dog and friends I saw at the grocery store all said some wind and rain tomorrow afternoon according to the news. Hopefully there are lots of surprises given how the last "Tropical Storm" went.
  3. Yea I could not imagine it. I only ski it on weekdays after a decent storm, it gets scrapped down fast (see pic). The pucker section is almost the length of Upper Giant Killer. In the above pic is my wife, it was her 3rd year skiing I believe the first time she did it. When asking about a new trail she always asks if it is more difficult than the Poma Line. The next lift service/unmarked thing I would love to ski are the Survey Lines at Smuggs. I've only seen one video and it looks similar but more intimidating.
  4. The old Poma line or the back side? Back side is flat. I don't know how people rode up that thing, so damn steep. The narrowness, old footings, and steel cable along with ice falls makes it one of the harder trails around. Typically survival skiing because getting a good flow would take a ton of snow and if you get much speed you'll be screwed. And I've hit it on 28" of fresh, still bare spots.
  5. It went just a little insane. 120mph gusts on the Jersey shore and LI. I will say this damn model has been consistent.
  6. I can definitely see how it is not going to rapidly weaken over land like so many systems given the shear direction and jet. But keeping so much strength given the land track is hard to believe.
  7. I couldn't tell if it was that or it is just more compact (given the precip totals up and down the coast). Either way, if those precip totals verified to 80% a lot of dirt roads in western and central Mass would be in trouble. And luckily the Housatonic is low.
  8. I always found Pico to be much more friendly and lax lol
  9. It's probably the combination of the VT plate, Subaru, and driver rocking Birkenstocks with wool socks while blasting some "Fire on the Mountain" getting stuck on the beach than just the VT plate lol
  10. I was surprised by that. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 18z NAM and GFS go crazy. 18z is when they both have been drinking for a few hours already and it manifests in massive QPF outputs (especially during winter storms).
  11. In terms of Tropical Storms in my lifetime (31 years) Floyd and Bertha were the only ones I remember by name. Floyd was interesting and got us two days out of school. Bertha because of the first tornado warnings in RI I remember. This one could be interesting but definitely not the rain totals of Floyd.
  12. And Vermonters at MRG just hate everyone lol I think some if it can be justified due to some problematic characters (e.g., swimming in quarries this summer, empty Bud Lite bottles thrown off chairlifts, etc.). I have the same knee-jerk reaction coming from RI when so many folks at URI and the beaches are not from RI. I completely agree with the quarantine policy though and would adhere to it.
  13. Yes, very nice. Luckily a western wind so might be able to hit the Quabbin today. Yesterday with a straight south wind around 10mph there were 2-3' rollers. Not fun in an under-powered 16' boat.
  14. At this point I'm not even sure we will be buying passes this year given VT's quarantine guidelines. I have several ski friends were stopped by country sheriffs in southern VT and questioned (even after quarantining) since they had out of state plates. Hopefully the Berks get some decent snow for back country adventures.
  15. Almost a half inch now the sun is out. Let's get things going.
  16. It's been so warm a couple nights in low 60s all the fish think it's September and have moved shallow. Caught a big rainbow in about 15' then a 5+ smallie I sight-fished in about 8' of water.
  17. I love hockey. Love the Bruins. Played hockey all my life. Planned to watch it start to finish and stocked up on junk food and whiskey. Last about 10 minutes. Just seems weird, idk.
  18. Let's just be conservative and assume 1938 mixed with Hurricane Rhody track and adjust up if needed.
  19. I'll buy in when we get inside 72 hours. Euro still has this thing 5-6 days away.
  20. Yup, had the baby with me, she was napping in the tent. Woke her up and headed back in. BTW, had 88-89* water at Metacomet a couple days ago. Damn swampy jacuzzi.
  21. The Quabbin was 81-82* today. Pretty impressive. I dont think I saw 78/79 last year.
  22. Part of me thinks we have seen models bring a hurricane up the coast 4-5 days out several times, other part says it is 2020 and anything can happen.
  23. Just look back on radar and it looked decent. Had a lot of water in the boat.
