  1. So many roads closed in town. Just saw a FB post it took someone almost an hour to get to Ludlow (usually a 10 minute drive) due to all the road closures. Waiting to hear if the Quabbin access road is open. No point in trying to do anything else.
  2. This is unreal. We have moved to the middle of fhe house. Our living/sun room is getting pelted with branches and had a limb just miss the side of the house. I don't know if it is our exposure on this hill or what. Last hour has been better than Irene was in RI for me.
  3. What is happening right now?! We are getting thrashed. Gusts have to be above 50. Never seen wind like this.
  4. Rocking and rolling now. Some good roars.
  5. Looks like just north of the Mass/VT border is the spot to be. Another impressive cuplet west of Dover. edit: older return
  6. Tornado on the Mass/VT border.
  7. Brother-in-law in Manhattan on Pier 17 said wind is really starting to move in the past few minutes. Consistently >35 knots, no real gusts though.
  8. Some cells really starting to pop in western CT/Mass.
  9. Agreed, it's an afternoon and evening show.
  10. There was a western shift on models very early this morning. Precip shield looks further west than modeled yesterday too.
  11. One to the south looks like it really went nuts on velocity.
  12. Maybe some new trails at Berkshire East?
  13. This is going to be a wild day.
  14. The fire tower on top of Mt. Toby will be swaying quite a bit.
  15. I'm clearly no met, but I thought we had an enhanced level for that May 15th line but have a ton more CAPE now. One lingering thought (worry) I keep having though is why is the NAM so calm when it should be off the wall?
  16. Funny talking with others about this system. Neighbors when out walking the dog and friends I saw at the grocery store all said some wind and rain tomorrow afternoon according to the news. Hopefully there are lots of surprises given how the last "Tropical Storm" went.
  17. Yea I could not imagine it. I only ski it on weekdays after a decent storm, it gets scrapped down fast (see pic). The pucker section is almost the length of Upper Giant Killer. In the above pic is my wife, it was her 3rd year skiing I believe the first time she did it. When asking about a new trail she always asks if it is more difficult than the Poma Line. The next lift service/unmarked thing I would love to ski are the Survey Lines at Smuggs. I've only seen one video and it looks similar but more intimidating.
  18. The old Poma line or the back side? Back side is flat. I don't know how people rode up that thing, so damn steep. The narrowness, old footings, and steel cable along with ice falls makes it one of the harder trails around. Typically survival skiing because getting a good flow would take a ton of snow and if you get much speed you'll be screwed. And I've hit it on 28" of fresh, still bare spots.
  19. It went just a little insane. 120mph gusts on the Jersey shore and LI. I will say this damn model has been consistent.
  20. I can definitely see how it is not going to rapidly weaken over land like so many systems given the shear direction and jet. But keeping so much strength given the land track is hard to believe.
  21. I couldn't tell if it was that or it is just more compact (given the precip totals up and down the coast). Either way, if those precip totals verified to 80% a lot of dirt roads in western and central Mass would be in trouble. And luckily the Housatonic is low.
  22. I always found Pico to be much more friendly and lax lol
  23. It's probably the combination of the VT plate, Subaru, and driver rocking Birkenstocks with wool socks while blasting some "Fire on the Mountain" getting stuck on the beach than just the VT plate lol
