Beautiful. Where from?
It's that time of year it stands out from here in (South) PWM. Visible in the Summer if we get clear days, but it really pops this time of year. Clear air, snow covered peaks, and a lower sun angle with a more-southernly rise position make all the difference.

The winter equipment install happens today for @tunafish, the season is officially open for business.
Might have found you a CON guy (cc: @dendrite). Not sure how good of a site it is. Def within 2 miles of CON and same elevation. He'll email GYX tomorrow. Working a few other leads too. Can't let that continuity of data die.

Yeah I was going to advertise this too. It's getting harder and harder to find someone to do this for us. We lost AUG years ago and still haven't replaced the observation, for the state capital no less.
There's some CoCoRAHS observers near by. Not sure how consistent their data is, though. Basically how I ended up with you guys.

That stinks, didn't realize 2 of your major climo sites were short. I'll put some feelers out there fwiw.

Not sure what's worse....this guy genuinely believing this would work or his followers in the comments adamantly agreeing.

Yes, south/east of Sebago. Clear skies until you hit Farmington/Tamarack land.

Corona?
Is that what that's referred to? The focal point almost straight overhead where it all seems to be originating from?

It should go much of the night.
Rationale: Analysis of the CME associated with the X1.8 flare suggests further enhancement 10 Oct into 11 Oct, reaching G4 (Severe) levels is likely with G5 (Extreme) levels possible. G1 (Minor) conditions are expected on 12 Oct as CME influence wanes.

Clouds look like they'll be an issue in NNE.

Green mountain feeds would be my suggestion. Someone must carry it there.
Yep - looks like Paris Farmers Union - Thank you!

@dendrite Do you have a soy-free feed you can recommend? Not necessarily corn free, just looking to try soy-free to start. Assuming it's OK for chicks born in the Spring. Thanks.

Did you miss the post about blooms in Portland Maine? Looks like mid July there..
Portland also isn't representative of most of Maine. The "lawn warrior" 20 miles NW in Raymond gets 20%+ more snow than PWM and is significantly colder, especially in winter.
100%. It's representative of Coastal Cumberland/York counties, and that's about it. The "mid-July" look isn't entirely a product of our climate/growing season, either - we're thoughtful about what blooms and when so we have color and something to harvest from Feb-Nov (starting with cold-frame greens and ending with carrots).

This stretch has been a blessing as we have several projects we're finishing up...extended the chicken run for 4 new black osterlorps, dug and filled a 50 foot French drain.
Still need to stain the surround on the new outdoor shower and get my NWS gear set up before it freezes (stake currently being used as an anchor for a temporary chicken run).

Lots of blooming even up here in PWM. Sorta by design, but also thanks to the extended growing season.
