I got a cold back in late sept, tested negative 4 or 5 times over a 10 day period. Still have sinus and inner ear congestion 3+ months later. No sore throat or fever or aches or anything. Did a round of antibiotics last week, and now on a daily dose of strong decongestants and zyrtec, because my doc thinks it's just out of control allergies. But I do get the vertigo at times because my inner ears are so congested. Now I wonder if these are just long covid symptoms and not allergies. Never had anything like this in my life, but I do always get bad fall allergies, which are more itchy eyes and sneezing.

We got our first runs of the year in at Bromley today. Was nice and warm, snow was soft but not slushy. I feel bad for the mountain when I look at the 10-day forecast. Hoping they can survive and get dumped on afterwards.

I read into it some more and I guess it has to do with whether it's a bonded neutral or floating neutral. My Generac XT8000E appears to be a bonded neutral, as far as I can tell. But then it also depends on if the panel is a bonded neutral? If they are both bonded neutral then it says you need the rod so that in the event of a faulty appliance, the power isn't sent back to the genny, making the frame live. If both are neutral bonded, you also have the risk of parallel power, where the fault from an appliance goes back to the neutral and ground on the panel but then also back to the neutral/ground on genny, and the ground isn't meant to handle continues power, so it could cause wire failure. But I'm hoping our electrician set up the transfer switch to separate the neutral/ground bond when it's being fed by the genny. Here is the article I found that really spelled it out nicely. https://homebatterybank.com/do-i-need-to-ground-a-generator-simply-explained/

I have that same setup, and my electrician didn't say anything about needing to ground the genny, and he's very "by the book" with stuff. The genny does have a ground wire that connects the engine block to the frame, I believe. But per the Generac site..."When connecting to an electrical panel (building electrical system, manual transfer switch, RV, etc.) you need to connect your generator to a ground rod. Ground rods must be pounded into the earth, then connected to the ground lug on the generator via a ground cable. The rod must be at least 8ft into the earth." This the first I've heard of this. Not sure how the hell to get a 8' rod into the ground in New England. Good luck finding a clear 8' shot without hitting a rock.

I saw a headline yesterday that gas was going to drop toward $3/gallon due to lowering demand. And now the stock market has rebounded a bit? What a roller coaster these last few months have been.

Just got a report of a mountain lion sighting near the school here in Brooklyn. I think 99% of the time these are just folks that don't know what a bobcat looks like. We'll see if any pics surface.

I only got to play the course once, as we had moved to Brooklyn shortly before it closed. But I use the range across the street all the time. I've chatted with the all 3 parties involved in the course/property/restaurant relationship over the years, and it's interesting to hear the different sides to the story. It would be good to see it stay as a field or go back to farmland at some point.

We bottomed out at 31.5 here. Need to inspect some of the plants to see if anyone got zapped. Fam was not happy that I haven't finished the winterized nesting box for the rabbits yet, either. If the cottontails survive in the yard, I'm sure our rabbits will be fine in the tunnel they've dug under their hutch.

This impending OPEC price gouge probably won't help things, either.

FT Myers beach area looks fun right now. My MIL is in Gateway. I told her to expect some gators sleeping in her patio tonight.

We saw one of these launches this summer at the Cape. Very cool to see for the first time, and it definitely had people thinking alien invasion until we realized what it was.

Nice! I heard the commercial for the show on the radio the other day. It mentioned that this was their largest pyrotechnic show ever, so it should be intense. Looks like it will be a great night for the show. Enjoy.

New England heavy rain event Sept 5/6 2022. Does this end the summer drought?

.52" here, although I had a spider nest in my gauge, so any precip before 10am was not counted. -
Cam Smith is one of the few guys I will miss. He's been fun to watch this year, and I love his attitude and his mullet. The rest of the guys that have gone over I can live without, for the most part. Maybe if enough guys leave, Rickie Fowler will be able to climb back into some meaningful tournaments.

There was really nothing happening underneath in the Brooklyn storm, from what I could see. I didn't see any rotation or debris flying in from different angles like I normally do when some of these storms pass over. Torrential rain for a few minutes, and some frequent lightning.

Got some hail in the last few minutes here in Brooklyn. No real wind, though. .56" and counting.

Should make for a fun evening at the Brooklyn Fair with the kids tomorrow.

Getting crushed here. Tropical rains. Lightning right on top of us. Picked up close to .5" in a matter of minutes. Over 1.5" for the day.

picked up a quick .02" in the last 30 minutes. At least Stein won't be pitching a perfect game here today.
