  1. After several sub freezing nights I can finally say everything is dead and growing season is over!
  2. I went to college in Daytona. There were a handful of times when the temperature down there was colder in the winter than it was in New York City. It usually involved the scenario you have posted here plus a cold front that cleared Florida but was hung up clearing the northeast… Which is also unusual because while Florida is to the west a cold front usually moves northwest to southeast. Think cutter scenario. Temperatures would be in the mid 40s in Florida and low 50s in NYC. These scenarios always occurred on winter nights
  3. I see that! JFK 55F at moment! Good point on the ocean temperatures which never really cooled in October. This will come back to haunt Long Island in marginal situations in December
  4. 40F This morning in Westchester 49F In the concrete jungle (Bronx) That is why we have some city folk talking about their thriving tomatoes
  5. 30F at 6am. Coolest night thus far…ironic that today moderates
  6. Mainly a grass and cold surface event. kicked off a great winter!
  7. Its true. Good indication of how much we have destroyed earth with development
  8. 34F at 8 am. I really thought we were going below freezing when I saw 38° at 8 PM but I guess not I don’t see any forecast that has central park getting below freezing anytime soon
  9. The pattern has become clear… Transient cold shots that last 3 to 4 days; 2 to 3 days well above normal. A lot depends on timing I’m not sure what constitutes a “big” winter: 1. snow 2. cold 3. both If I was a betting man, I would go with 1 not 3…
  10. Well when you have a September air mass in front of it… :/ In fairness it was quite cool this morning but it warmed up quite a bit before that passed through
  11. Flew Jacksonville to NYC. Same temperature in both places this evening. Interesting given conversation above
  12. I was on Daytona 99-03. There was a snow event one of those winters. Campus went wild between classes. First time many years that it happened
  13. Humid 62F at 7 am. Reminds me of xmas week weather
  14. 34F this morning at 630 Light frost on some surfaces
  15. Hang on. Still in negative territory through mid month. Second half looks very seasonal. Let’s not make Nov sound like an impending torch month. By all indications, it wont be.
  16. Plenty of seasonal temps (which is cold) forecasted.
  17. 49F at 8 am Considering it’s the middle of November look at the leaves on the trees in my yard I cut the grass yesterday Unreal
  18. 30F. Despite forecasts I knew we were going for a hard freeze and drained the outdoor shower. Much warmer in Queens and Nassau this morning. Mid 40s by 830 Edit: Suffolk much cooler mid 30s
  19. Ill be the parent that pleads with feuding siblings here haha It is 44° out, you have a frigid weekend on the way for early November, you’ve had frost all week… Stop fighting about a seasonal outlook that is an educated guess at best. There are plenty of posters with biases on the site. If you like the bias you like them if the bias annoys you they annoy you
  20. coldest day of the year thus far… We never got above 49F. Deer fencing was a chilly endeavor
