  1. This winter is like the movie Christmas Vacation: the house is a wreck, the tree is burned down, the neighbor is attacked and the father looks at Chevy Chase and says “we know what you’re trying to do here, but this is an awful evening nothing has gone right. You need Jack Daniels. Then they try to push forward and it looks like a glimmer of hope…but that hope is quickly dashed by a swat team and a sewer explosion.
  2. honestly, that’s the hope; best case scenario
  3. I wouldn’t care about the no snow if it was at least cold and felt like winter. My gut tells me CPK is going to have a shut out this year. There’s just no cold air and everything keeps cutting to the west. This week is done.
  4. nobody on this forum has the ability to predict out 6 weeks. when you accept that fact you make yourself a little bit happier. matter fact, like most professional meteorologists six days out is only 50%.
  5. Full thunderstorm now… Just a bad year. Nothing abnormal about this at all.
  6. 38F and rain in the Hills of Westchester…what a winter!
  7. I’ll just say this… We are comparing this a lot to 97/98 That was saved at the end from a shut out. What is the wintertime temperature in now versus late 90s? It’s a huge difference. I hope something happens but I wouldn’t bank on it
  8. this isn’t a bad year. This is historic, and this is climate change. A part of me almost hopes that the city gets totally shut out so we can stop the bs with the bad year. This is what New York City winters look like more and more going forward
  9. yeah, but that could also be OTS. That’s the failure in that logic. And if the southeast ridge really is that strong, then we’re done for snow here. No reason to track anything. That’s the failure in the whole attitude.
  10. I don’t like the term snow drought. It isn’t intellectually honest. there has been plenty of moisture. It isn’t frozen because we are experiencing never-ending warmth. The warmth is the story, not the lack of snow or the lack of moisture to create snow
  11. NY Post has a whole story for tomorrows paper on the impending snow record. Prepare to be bombarded in your newsfeed if you are on social media
  12. Of course it will be. You think youre going into May +5-10 for the year?? Given that this gets made up in Mar/Apr timeframe
  13. I wish there was an AMEN button!
  14. Never started. Been a bunch of cutters on here since mid November. Just some hype about a great pattern and a 3 day super cold shot. Youre the only one that keeps reiterating that it is over. Move on. its a question of a 0 for CPK or a little bit to save face
  15. Nothing like dodging thunderstorms on way into JFK on January 12th. WTF is going on??
  16. Pattern looks a bit different now over rest of month. Run of the mill AN in 40s with two cutters and associated warm up. That big surge of +20 heat seems muted
  17. It’s too warm. You’re rooting for snow in November.
  18. Not only is that a lock the question is by how much This is Dec 15 territory. Rewriting the books.
  19. Something to look forward to next year…
  20. Just like this. Rain, rain, more rain
  21. actually, they’re having big problems out west. while this year has been good, they are totally dependent on natural snow because the ski areas are too big to make the kind of man made snow possible. They have been dealing with years of snow drought and rapid warming. Skiing out west is in a precarious situation. A small ski area in the northeast with the ability to pump out a lot of man made snow when it is cold is in the best position to weather climate change of the next 50 years. Beyond that it becomes untenable. Even more precarious are the Alps. Terrible climate change situation there
