I woke up in the middle of the night and it felt like a sauna..... and this was in the Poconos! We had severe storms overnight with temps near 70 during the day and those storms at night. Actually it was still in the upper 60s at night when those storms came through

Female mosquitoes and female horse flies are a real pestilence because of being such blood suckers. I wish there was a way to alter them genetically to prevent them from being able to do that and then combine that with the breeding population. The GM program in Florida sounds interesting, I want to see how that works- they're certainly worse down there than pretty much anywhere else in the country.

Indeed-- this is the only way to get enough attention to these events, which are hidden killers. I believe over 100 died in Portland alone from this summer's heat! I heard something else today.... in NYC all new roofs put in from now going forwards, including any roof renovations, will be required to have solar panels installed! -

since they are all taken at airports they should be comparable to each other

it's that accursed upper level low and all the clouds that are responsible for that. It's unbearable enough with all this high humidity. Someone help me nuke the Atlantic Ocean please

so how do WE reset it back? It seems like we need to do some tinkering with ENSO, on a large scale if we can develop the technology to alter ocean currents we should be able to stop these large ENSO swings from happening.

I already know we're in a subtropical climate zone so I'm not even going to spend much time on this, here is a copy and paste of the first search result. New York City, after years of being considered a humid continental climate, now sits within the humid subtropical climate zone. California is running out of water and the "record" crop yields are being destroyed, ask any farmer in the midwest, they are leaving the industry in droves.

why is it so difficult to exterminate mosquitoes and drive them into extinction? We find it so easy to drive desirable species to extinction why can't we actually make species we dont want to go extinct?

Interview on TWC it looks like the naming of big heat waves might be coming as well as the definition of a "heat season" much like the tropical season. The goal is to draw more attention to anomalous heat and to warn the public because it is a far bigger killer than tropical systems are. Maybe we will have heat chasers just like we have storm chasers. I feel a rush when the old thermo hits 100 degrees! -
