  1. I saw a forecast for like 150 inches of snow LOL and these places are near sea level?
  2. Don do you have a projection for first freeze for NYC, JFK, LGA, etc? Thanksgiving?
  3. 2001, 2006 and 2011 didn't have their first freeze until after December?
  4. I noticed southern nassau and NYC are the only parts of the area not under a frost advisory
  5. were 1997-98 and 1998-99 the lowest snow total we ever had over a 2 year period? 1996-97 to 1998-99 might have been the lowest snow total we ever had over a three year period and if it wasn't for 2000-01 the snow drought would have lasted right through 2001-02.
  6. just look at some of the winters we've had after a very late first freeze....2009-10 is on that list
  7. wow 2009's was really late too, 12-07? and look what a winter we had!
  8. figures it was 1983 that was one of my dream summers and falls lol. also a la nina and an amazingly cold winter we even got to 0 in December didn't we? so we went from first 32 to 0 in the same month?
  9. it actually looks like snow fell there, thats a big wow, the heavy frost was still around at 10 am! think JFK and vicinity gets at least a frost tonight?
  10. it's scary how we get used to warm weather. There are benefits.....we'll pay much lower heating costs and that's going to be really good this year with inflated prices. Let the rich people get the cold weather, they can afford it this year lol
  11. no frost here, too urbanized, we didnt even get into the 30s here
  12. isn't 37 the highest temp you can get frost in? I dont think SW Nassau got any frost....too urbanized here, we didn't even get into the 30s yet
  13. what happened in 2001? I remember that was my latest freeze with flowers blooming after Christmas lol and new flowers coming up in February, shortest freeze season ever
  14. hard freeze Don? I think thats defined as 4 hours below 28 if I'm not mistaken?
  15. Getting criticized at COP26 for this menu....get a load of this huge carbon footprint https://twitter.com/i/events/1455879070672117762 https://twitter.com/BigIssue/status/1455871535055577091
  16. February and March in 2015 were really good though
  17. the only worse weather I can imagine is 33 and rain
  18. Don since NYC should see at least one sub 50 high, does that also mean we're likely to see at least one low temp in the 30s too?
  19. no because China is the worst polluter of them all, they are opening up new coal mines. the entire G20 meeting in Rome was a big mess, they couldn't even decide on a timetable on when to shut down coal mines.
  20. should start naming bomb cyclones like they name them over in Europe. I wonder what the European criteria for naming storms is?
  21. November 1993.......... widespread freeze and heavy frost in the first week (down to 28 here just SE of JFK)....then we hit 80 on November 15th for the latest 80 we've ever had, and a day after the marathon where many were overcome by heat. and the winter, as they say, was historic
  22. wow they actually got almost as cold as MPO, must have been one of those inversion layers that makes the valleys colder. Will all these locations get their first freeze this week? I'm guessing the coastal regions and the city will have to wait for around Thanksgiving to have our first freeze?
  23. Looks like Manchin was using delay tactics and when he realized they wouldn't work anymore he decided to be honest, he was never going to vote for this, even though they cut the price in half, right down to what he wanted. You know how they say "we don't negotiate with terrorists".....we need a version of that phrase for the likes of Manchin and Sinema. This is yet another reason why democracy isn't the ideal form of govt to address crises like this.....an authoritarian regime that was pro environment could actually get things done no matter what these relics of the past have to say.
