  1. sounds like you guys are on the way to experiencing what Siberia did last year.
  2. Did any of you guys see this..... Wobbling’ moon will cause devastating worldwide flooding, Nasa warns 18.6 yr lunar gravitational cycle increases extremes of flooding. In the piece they were talking about the wobble of the moon combined with climate change making for long lasting extremes of coastal flooding from the 2030s thru the 2050s!
  3. How many sensors do they have in the Death Valley area lol? I follow the default sensor at Furnace Creek on Weather Bug. Is Stove Pipe Wells also on there? Also the low of 107.7 was second only to a town in Oman? What's the record highest low there? Thanks! PS I heard Death Valley's high yesterday was 128.
  4. omg finally a true 130 reading! This is a historic moment! I heard today the old record of 134 could be challenged and the peak of the heat will be Monday?
  5. I wonder if these winds will be stronger than what we get in Elsa? It almost seemed like last year's TS for awhile this evening
  6. Not when we get 30 inch snowstorms I compare our weather to DC and ACY and I feel a lot better about it it's all relative!
  7. wow thats strange, I wonder what kept EWR cooler back then? Did the same thing happen in the epic late August- early September super heat wave?
  8. wow that 1977 heatwave is very underrated (another 11 year summer!)....3 out of 4 days 100+? and how did we cool down to 92 and shoot back up to 104?! that very rarely ever happens by the way, Chris, on how many of those days did JFK reach or exceed 100? and was LGA hotter or cooler than NYC?
  9. I remember 2002 as very hot and very dry, my grass was yellow that year lol
  10. Good to see you have some of my favorite summers in this list- besides 1993, 1966 is also on here (there was a severe drought that year which actually was even worse the year before, 1999 which had peak heat today and the day after back then (back to back 101 days), and 2010, which was the hottest summer overall here. 1966, 1999 and 2010 are all part of the 11 cycle, of which 2021 is the next installment.
  11. I wanted to ask that about the high temps on June 30th. Since LGA hit 100 and EWR hit 103. If this were 1993 when we have an ample sample size of such days, it definitely would have hit 100. Maybe the day before too when LGA hit 99 and EWR hit 102? I think JFK's overall high temp for the year is 94 and that was way back in May? They're usually good to get to 95-96 at least once every year.
  12. Don, I see you mentioned the second half of July and into August, do you think our late June temperatures will be exceeded at some point this summer, at least at NYC and JFK?
  13. wow I suspect Scandanavia has never hit 100?
  14. Thanks, Uncle, are 1953 and 1966 the only two years to have 100+ temps in multiple months? 1953 had it in 3, wow.
  15. When was the last time we had our hottest weather in June? 1994? I know in 1996 it was in May and in 1976 it was in April lol. Weird the disparity in 1994 between NYC and PHL, in PHL the heat continued for the entire summer, but it didn't in NYC? In PHL 1994 was basically a repeat of 1993 wasn't it? Amazing combo of summers- 1991, 1993, 1994, and 1995, with 1992 the glaring exception rainy and cold summer! Not even cool, actually COLD! By the way on this date in July 1999 we began our two day streak of 101 degrees, I loved that month, ended up with 20 90 degree days and our hottest month on record (beating July 1955) until July 2010 knocked it off. I love those 11 year summers!
  16. I wonder how much that big derecho took down? I heard damage was in the billions. Also, I read that many farmers are going out of business because of more frequent flooding and 3"+ rainfall events, so the corn business out there may be on the clock..... I dont think thats sustainable farming anyway, monocultural farming is bad for the soil.
  17. So 2060 is D Day for the planet to free itself from the plague virus that is humanity eh? Question....so it turns out that curbing emissions wont stop this existential threat from becoming reality by the time we reach the +2 C tipping point?
  18. He had one for every game the Mets will win this year lol
  19. havent had that processed crap in years and never will again. I think the AHA and ACS warns us to limit it to less than 10% of total consumption, Joey must be eating it at about 110% lol
  20. Thats what I wanted to ask you Chris, do you think the 102-103 there Jun 29-30 was the peak hit of the summer? Since it happened at the tail end of June, it was basically July weather starting a day or two early. Or do you think we have prospects of beating that kind of heat later in the month (say around July 20th or later?) Speaking specifically for JFK and coastal areas.
  21. that 595 DM pattern equates to what kind of temps along the coast Tony.....mid 90s?
  22. I heard JFK set a new record low this morning (I mean yesterday morning now lol) at 59! Is a low of 59 or lower rare there in July too?
  23. 1933 was when the 11 year cycle began
