Putin's party are actually oligarchs which is an extreme form of unregulated capitalism and only a small segment of Ukrainians are neonazis....granted what was said by some in charge about how their lives were more valuable than the lives of people in the Middle East was highly disappointing and those people deserve to be purged.

I dispute the air and water being cleaner....I cant breathe this shit, with so much more pollen in the air than what we had in the 80s and the ozone impact is much worse with higher humidity and more dirty fuel powered cars on the road. How do we take the water vapor out of the air?

I've been to India a few times and seen the mess they've made there. The air is so polluted you can't even breathe it without suffering from headaches and burning eyes. That's the case in large parts of eastern Asia. Too many cars, too many people, all crowded into a small area in extremely densely populated cities. Resources are limited so you can't keep expanding exponentially, at some point you hit the ceiling of resources. It's the same reason we control animal populations. It has to start stabilizing at some point where births=deaths. Technological industrial civilizations are a huge part of the problem, since before that happened, we didn't have most of these issues. The so-called "green" revolution that started incorporating more genetically modified crops, overuse of chemical pesticides and fertilizers has also destroyed the fertility of the soil and depleted its nutrients as the third world is now finding out in Asia and Africa and reverting back to using much more sustainable organic farming techniques.

There was when we had that big blizzard here JFK only had a high in the upper 20s and lows in the teens.

there is a real necessity to get nations like China and India onboard, China going back to coal is a real detriment not only because of the vast number of people that live there, but also because it also affects that entire region. They have a goal of net zero by 2060 I believe, but in the mean time they have been opening up more coal plants. Nuclear would be a really good option here, but in the current political climate, people seem to be even more wary of nuclear.

wow the April cold outbreak in 1995 lasted for 3 days? I remember the 2 day outbreak in 2016 too, that was when we had a snow event occurring to our east. weird, a 5 degree difference between EWR and NYC for the low? I wonder why? Don, did JFK get into the teens? Also how did EWR get 12.8" and NYC only got 9.6"? The other airports were even lower (8")-- and I thought ISP had more snow (more snow further to the east)?

teens in April in 1982 wow did NYC get into the teens too? I dont see why not, since Newark got down to 16 and 17. 23 on 4/5/1995 is pretty cold too, I remember that dry cold shot well.

its good to see that the number of snowy winters is much higher than the number of cold ones. if you go by snowy winters (30"+ seasonal snowfall, you get 7 snowy vs 6 nonsnowy.)

does it even matter what kind of el nino it is? would even a weak one create a new baseline?

it's not putting a dent in global temps, which are still going up.

we've also had some incredibly cold weather during la ninas- winters of 1915-16 and 2010-11 come to mind, but they usually come after el ninos.

what was the August we had the big regional blackout? was that 2003 or 2004? Hottest day of the year-- the high was 95 or 96.
